15U has had the Easton XL1 since the Spring. He limited the use to pre-game and game ABs, and in turn the bat treated him well. However, he has now started to complain that the bat feels "dead" and the ball is not coming off well. He says that it sounds different as well. Have to say that I agree: the distance now is not nearly as far as Spring/Summer, and there's more pop out from his wood bat. And indeed it does sound different. 16U friend has an S1 purchased about the same time, used in same fashion, and is complaining as well.

Is anyone else experiencing early excessive wear on BBCOR bats? Are you finding similar rate of degradation with the BBCOR bat? BTW: both bats are composite. And again: usage limited to pre-game and game.

My son has a teammate that he hits with often and I happen to be around when they do cage work.

Has had the same bat for the same length of time as your son.

While I think it is hard to evaluate how the ball is truly coming off in the cage funny enough I did mention to my son the other day that I thought the bat sounded different.

Not very scientific but there you go.
