Sure there are a lot of bowls but lets play the game, keeping it simple. Predict the winners in these games... total points scored in championship* game will be tiebreaker.

List your winners and the total of the championship* game. As always, if you are a winner, Woody will give you a picture of a pile of cash.

Rose: Oregon v Wisconsin
Fiesta: Stanford v Ok State
Sugar: Michigan v Va Tech
Orange: W.Va vs. Clemson
Championship* Game: Alabama vs. LSU
Total points in final game ____.

Wisconsin- A)Transfer QB is a stud. B)Arguably the best RB in college football C)Couple of great LB's on DEF
OKlahoma State- A)Tough loss after the Basketball Tragedy prevented them from Title Game B)Potent Offense w/best WR in the NCAA
Michigan- I'm not a GO BLUE fan, but I like their Head Coach, former SDSU HC.
Clemson- Why? I don't know? I'm giving Tiger Paw Mom some love....
LSU(37)I'd go w/Bama, but I can't trust their kicking game. If it's high scoring, Bama will prevail. But my pick is 20-17 LSU.

Here's the view of the world's worst handicapper.

Oregon--"The Bowl That Time Forgot." The Rose Bowl still features the Big 10 and Pac whatever champs, just like it did when I was a kid. I like speed in power vs. speed matchups.

Ok State--The "We wuz robbed" Bowl. I have no legitimate football reason for this pick. I'm guessing that Oklahoma State is nursing the greater sense of injustice.

Michigan--The "I'd like to thank our fans, without whose checkbooks we wouldn't be here" bowl. Only a fool goes with the Big 10 in a major bowl. I feel well qualified. I don't think Virginia Tech passed any major tests this year.

Clemson--The "Time to Reconsider Everyone's AQ Status" Bowl. WVU's worst games are worse than Clemson's worst games.

Alabama--The "SEC West, Part Two" Bowl. I thought 'Bama was the better team first time around and will punch it across a couple times in the rematch.

I pick OKState to win because of Stanford's defense, their achilles heal. One possibility for a Stanford win would be if they can play ball control...something they are capable of and that they've done with some teams this year. If Shane Skov (LB) was available (missed about 2/3 of season w/ knee injury), I'd feel a lot better about Stanford's chances.
Rose: Wisconsin over Oregon in a close one. I know I'm going against the grain, but I just got this feeling.
Fiesta: Ok State over Stanford.....Luck ran out.
Sugar: Michigan over Va Tech....If VT keeps losing kickers they will have to go for 2 on touchdowns
Orange: Clemson over W.Va.....Clemson will manhandle WVU
Championship* Game: LSU over Alabama (again)
Total points in final game = 45 (28-17)
After three games, three contestants are still perfect:

Trojan-Skipper, still has Clemson, Bama and 31.
Justbaseball (Clemson, LSU and 35).
Swampboy, (Clemson, Bama and 24).

Since all three of these have Clemson, a WVU win would open the door for coach2709 (WVU, LSU and 52) , Rob Kremer (WVU, LSU and 27).

Justbaseball is the only person who can still go five for five and win outright without resorting to tiebreaker points.

Westcoastbuckeye has a great start at shooting the moon. Is there a prize for that?

WVU 7,521 Clemson 1,458

This game will end Jan 23rd at 2:06 PM

Whoever came up with 8:30 ET start times needs to be ninja punched in the throat but as long as my Mountaineers win it's all good.

I returned home from the gym and saw that West Virginia had gone up 28-17. I went up stairs, took a shower...came back down stairs to a 49-20 WV lead...wait a second, WV just marched down and scored again within three minutes of the 3rd quarter...incredible! Let's see if Clemson can hold them under 100???

Besides the weather, the best thing about living on the west coast is the opportunity to watch all the games at a decent hour. I'd go crazy during baseball season, and the 10:30pm EST game times.

Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads

All my mem’ries, gather ’round her
Miner’s lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads

I hear her voice, in the mornin’ hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road I get a feeling
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, Mountain Mama
Take me home, country roads

LOL I'm sorry and couldn't help myself. You can take the boy out of the mountains but you can't take the mountains out of the boy.
AntzDad that is exactly right. Everyone dumps on the Big East but it's really not that bad of a conference - not the best but not as bad as everyone says. They always have a pretty good OVERALL showing in bowl games (obviously UConn and Cincy are the exceptions in the last couple of years) with their records. I know there can be some arguments made about matchups but the Big East teams routinely beat the teams put in front of them every year.

When you have a conference like this and then teams like Boise State, TCU, Houston, Nevada and others like this you have to have a playoff because you never know when a team can get hot and get on a roll. Obviously most years you're still going to have a team from the BCS conferences win - mainly an SEC team but give the others a chance.

As and SEC person, I strongly support a play-off system. Let the schools play their way for the championship like the other sports, and football divisions do.

I hope you're right...this was a PATHETIC National Championship Game!!! My apologies to those defensive purists out there, it was UGLY...heck, I was happy when Richardson finally scored a touchdown for Bama. Playoff System NEEDS to be in place soon!

By the way, who was our winner in the BCS predictions?
I loved the game. I love tough physical football. I watched enough games this bowl season where no one could tackle or play defense. These two teams offenses are very good. But not against those defenses. The two best teams in the nation played tonight and the best team won.

I am all for a playoff. But if it happens dont be surprised to see the SEC end up with 2 teams in the championship game more often than with the BCS system. Arkansas might have been the 3rd best team in the nation this year. Their only 2 Ls were to LSU and Bama. Thats 6 straight NC's for the SEC. Its on another level right now from everyone else.

Arkansas would have been the third-best team in the B1G this year.
This was a pathetic game and neither QBs are pro material so a good game wasn't gonna happen. And picking these two teams from the same division?Having no playoff system at this level is a joke. I'll take the pro game any day of the week. At least NFL network had the replay of the 2007 NFC Championship game between the NY Giants and GB Packers to go against the BCS game.

I love tough physical football as well, Coach. And both teams dished out some punishment...but offensively both QB's missed numerous open receivers, and when they did make a decent pass, the receivers had plenty of drops. As for the SEC, I won't argue about their dominance, it's pretty clear they're hands down the best conference in the Nation...but look out for USC (Southern Cal) next year! Big Grin
I think this year overall the better conference was the Big 12. That being said the SEC had the two best and possibly third best team (Alabama, LSU and Arkansas) in the nation. Reason I think the Big 12 is better is look at the bottom of the SEC. Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Ole Miss are horrible and I mean horrible.

Comparitively speaking Kansas, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Texas A&M are not very good overall but they would destroy the bottom of the SEC. I don't think you can have your top 3 teams be enough to carry a conference to being the best.

Honestly, only Oklahoma State and Baylor could compete with the top three but they wouldn't beat Alabama, LSU or Arkansas. But overall the bottom of the SEC is horrible which is going to hurt them overall. The Big 12 getting West Virginia does make them stronger. WVU won't be contending for conference titles anytime soon but they do make them stronger overall.

I'm with Coach May in that it was a good game. I'm an offensive guy and run the offense for my high school but when you get two good defenses like these two you are going to see some hits and that is what happend - hitting. If you're an offensive minded person I can see how this game wouldn't appeal to you but it wasn't ugly by no means. One turnover and one penalty - that's not ugly, that's two great teams going at it with strong defenses.
My UGLY reference is the fact that Bama stacked the line and dared LSU to throw the ball...The Tigers are One Dimensional, and couldn't take advantage. The QB play for LSU was very poor, and they didn't want to bring the back up in due to his terrible numbers versus BAMA, one TD and 7 INT's in previous meetings. It was UGLY...but I understand what both of you guys are saying, we definitely can't take anything away from the defense. And you're right, only one turnover, but you have to admit that it was an UGLY INT. Wink
I think both offenses are one dimensional. They are both old school pro style I based running attack. They don't need to have a QB like a Cam Newton at Auburn or the RG3 guy from Baylor or Geno Smith from WVU - those guys have to be two dimensional in being able to run and throw with more emphasis on the running. You put Alabama's or either of LSU's QBs in those offenses then they won't have any success. LSU has relied on a strong running game all year with the pass mixed in to keep defenses honest. Pretty much the same with Alabama.

If you'll notice neither program / coach turns out NFL QB's because their offense doesn't need those type of athletes. They need someone who is smart enough to check out of bad plays, make the occasional pass and hand the ball off to a bruising running back.

In reality to each their own. I understand why you didn't like the game and that's ok. It didn't mesh with your taste and that is what's awesome about sports.
