Anyone attending this weekend? I am going with the Team NY Showcase ('07) team. I should be pitching either our first or second game, depending on scheduling, etc. What is it normally like? I know it's metal bat, which makes things a little different for everyone from the typical summer all wood league.

Also, we didn't originally plan to stay overnight (I live an hour and a half away from Baseball Heaven), but we have a 5 PM game Friday and 8 AM game Saturday. Because of the summer's extensive traveling and costs, etc., my parents don't want to spend too much on a hotel/motel for one night but it would be crazy to commute having to wake up at like 4 AM for the game. Anyone know of a good cheap place to stay?

Coach Merc- I think my dad made reservations for a Marriott in the area last night. I'll be sharing the room with a teammate, so once we split the price it won't be that bad. Plus they have some kind of Marriott rewards card, I don't know I don't really pay attention to that stuff lol.

We'll be playing you guys in our 3rd game. I don't know the whole rotation thus far but you will most likely be getting Jose Abinacer from Manhattan Center, he's a lefty, or Nick Rolnick from Scarsdale, he throws a knuckleball. But good luck throughout the tournament and tell Carmelo and Joey I said hi once again, I've known them since the early Little League days.

I was there with the Team NY Cardinals and it was very dissapointing. To us, perfect game did a terrible job. We waited around all day Saturday in the rain to not play. Sunday went there again to find out there were going to be no games. They can't control the weather but Sunday they could have gotten games in and then we find out that we were eliminated for Monday after playing just 1 game. We expected great things and came away with nothing. We didn't get the exposure that we wanted for our 07's which was our intention for going and we didn't get to play any games. For that kind of money it doesn't seem to add up. We didn't get anything for the money we paid. All we wanted to do was play some games and try to help the kids. Makes you think twice about dealing with them in the future.
GCSdad...those are some pretty harsh words for the most respected showcase company in the country. I wasn't there, but I did watch the schedule to see the results, and I must have seen at least 5 or 6 different schedules being posted.
I also heard from a friend of mine that has a son on a team that was there, not going to name names, that even though it was a turf field, that the dirt around the bases was basically mud and that there were puddles on the turf. I guess you'd rather see your son and his teammates get hurt just so they can play games?
I think that they got lucky to get anything in. With the Northeast getting anywhere from 3-6 inches of rain in certain areas, if the fields were natural grass and full dirt infields, would any games have been played at all?
I'm with wayback on this one, what would you have done differently? To put all your eggs in one basket to get exposude for your players is never a good idea, what other choices were there?

Let's all just hope that the big guy upstairs doesn't keep the rain coming this weekend again, he certainly knows nobody wants a repeat of last years 18U in East Cobb Smile
