I gotta throw this out. There has been alot of comment on the quality of umpiring of games in the Beach District. I figured to make a thread for people to voice their opinion. I have seen about 10 games and would have to say, unfortunately, that the quality and professionalism has gone down a good bit even since last season. Keeping in mind, it's still early in the season, I think there is room for improvement. I know there is a group that jumps on people with umpiring opinions, but that is also part of the game and should be looked at, as well as, the players. Just like foul lines and bases, the officiating is part of the game. I've seen the strike zone shifting from inning to inning, blown homerun calls, "daylight" tags, and no call balks (set times, flinches), misinterpretation of rules, and just stating incorrect rules. All these things can and does effect the outcome of games. The umpires are taught to officiate and hopefully go un-noticed during the game, if it is at all possible. Just tossing this one out.
