Kellam 7, Cox 2.  Turner Bishop was in total control on the mound for six innings and at the plate was 3-4 with a dinger.  Noteworthy: Cox rightfielder (sorry i do not know the young man's name ?) made an outstanding catch to rob another possible home run from Bishop as well !  Cox stumbled out of the gate with SP Curran struggling with command and starting catcher having more trouble handling him.  Kellam scored 5 runs (2 earned) in the first and never looked back with BIshop dominating Cox hitters.

So is it possible that 3 thru 7 could have same record at the end? with 5 games remaining I think Bayside, Greenrun, and Tallwood are pretty much eliminated from the District tourney Tallwood has outside chance if PA continues to stumble, I don't think any team wants to be the 8 seed.

While most would agree that this spring has to go down as one of the worst for getting games played on schedule due to weather...  There is another underlying challenge as well.  Due to the lack of qualified umpires, rescheduling games has become difficult and could present some problems down the stretch ?

Ps... Next weeks forecast doesn't look great !!!

FC 10-2 over Landstown, FC Dylan Short pitched outstanding for 5 innings only giving up 2-3 hits. Landstown Starter Jake Sinneger struggled in first giving up 7 hits and 5 runs, he did settle in and pitch effectively until 4th inning. Landstown didn't hit and could not capitalize on the scoring oppurtunities they did have.

King ever call a game?  In my '20's I was a blowhard with umpires until I called a few slow pitch softball games.  i watched a team run itself into a triple play on a bases loaded pop up that I called the IF and it was dropped.  The 3rd out was the batter.  Since none of these beer league wingnuts knew the rules the cop sitting in the parking lot got out of his car to calm everybody down.

I kept my mouth shut with umpires after that experiance....for the most part!

I would question whether I have actually seen a qualified upmire at most of the games I have attended this year, why start now?

yep, over the years called lots of games at lots of levels.  My issues with the umpires I have to watch is basic.  Lack of proper pre-positioning to be in the right location to make a call, lack of communication between the umpires before and during situations as to who is doing what. Yes I am aware that some teams use hand signals and also have worked together so often that they know what the other is doing but those guys are actually in the right spot and rare.  Lack of actual knowledge of rules on how and when to call; infield fly rules, batters being hit by a batted ball while out of the batters box, not calling batters interfearance on catchers throws, to name a few.  God forbid you actually go to some of the schools where you can get behind the plate and see the way the game is being called but those are more subjective....does that about cover it for you luv baseball?

757,  Haha... I'm quite sure we have, but don't get too sentimental on me fella because that line forms to the left and is about 2 miles long !!! I was very spoiled growing up in the 70's and into the 80's playing ball with the best umpires this area has ever, and will ever see call the game. Not really trying to knock todays BLUE, but that group of guys were awesome umpires !!!

hitking - Not sure if we are watching the same umpires but after 200+ games over a 5 year span including summer and fall ball and 2 kids I never saw anything nearly as uneven as you describe.  Some guys are better than others to be sure but I've never seen anything truly terrible at the HS level.  JV was a little weaker but still not awful.

Since you called games and were good at it then maybe pull the gear out and offer to instruct those guys.  Southside baseball couldn't help but benefit from better officiating.

Redbird - Gotta luv the chirping.  Peep...peep....peep.
