Chris,

Sounds like you had a good one there.

Landstown jumped out to a 3-1 lead on Salem after two at-bats, however the rules clearly state that Salem is entitled to hit in their bottom of the inning; and the hit parade started Frown

I believe they scored nine times in the second, yes there were a few miscues on Landstowns part and salem took advantage, but the bulk of credit goes to Salem hitting; hard-hit line drives.

The final was 15-3. Any Salem posters with the hit tallies?

On Monday, Kellam beat Landstown 4-1. It was a tight
pitchers duel 1-1 through five. Kellam broke through for 3 runs in the top of the 6th. With a runner on second, Patrick Harrington (#3 hitter) hit a hanging curve for a double off Landstown starter Kyle Lawhorn to plate the winning run.

Kyle finished with 9K's and 1 BB. The Kellam starter was a left-hander that did a very good job pitching in a cold stiff 10-15 mph wind.

Any Kellam poster, please provide name of the afore mentioned player and stats.

Bayside has played in two tough games the past two days. Bayside losses to Kempsville 7-4. It was 4-4 for 6 innings and gave up three in the 7th on walks. Ramirez pitched the last two striking out 5 of 6 batters faced.

Bayside battled with Cox today with the score 4-4 once again. In the top of the fifth, the umpire missed a call for the score to be 5-4 Bayside, but remained 4-4. In the bottom of the sixth Cox score two runs on some timely hitting.

John Deschamps pitched a great game for Bayside, keeping Cox's top three to one hit. Reid closed the game for Cox and did a great job.

Good Luck to all the teams and I think it is going to be an exciting season.

Bayside @ FC on Friday. One heck of a way to start your season.

The kid that pitched is Mario Rosales, either a Junior or Senior. He pitched last year as a spot starter against the weaker teams. He isn't really overpowering, just does a great job of throwing strikes, which wins high school games.

Wiseball- Curious as to the missed call. I don't recall anything controversial in the 5th. What I remember is Cox's Sophomore lefty gave up a leadoff hit and a two out walk, but no one got beyond 2b. Am I missing something? The 4th inning they were much closer to scoring and probably would've done so if the leadoff double had not been turned into an out by trying to stretch it to a triple.

How did CD do?

Redbird5,

He had a real nice hit (hard line-drive) to left
leading off in the second inning of the Kellam game.
I believe he scored our only run that game.

Struggled in the Salem game. He did what I have noticed many others have done so far; take hittable pitches. Not sure why this tendancy has been so prevalent on the team; best guess is that they are taking the term "be patient" too far and are not recognizing those good pitches to hit.

Salem doesn't miss'em. Wink

Thanks,
He reminded me of Johnathan Spears (Salem/04) current Radford University. Nothing glamourous, but very effective.
Chris,
There was a man on third with two outs and the 5 hitter hit a bleeder between 1st and 2nd. The second baseman did a good job getting to the ball but the throw was low. The first baseman scooped the ball but the ball was in the air when the runner touched the base. The ump missed the bobble. Beleive me I take nothing from Cox and in order to be the best, you have to beat the best. It was a great game and Bayside hit the ball well. Reid had one heck of a bunt with two outs to score the go ahead run. Good luck the rest of the way and make sure Cox is up all the time and not just when things are going their way. They will be very successful. Good Luck to Bill and his boys.
I remember that play...happened in the 6th inning with Reid on the mound. Drew Wilkinson made a nice play on the ball, but I was screened from the 1stbaseman so I can't say whether or not there was a bobble.

Cox stayed up today but fell to Ocean Lakes 4-3 in 8 innings. Cox had their chances, but deserved to lose when they were goaded into falling for a rec league play. Hitting needs to get better for them to be a championhip calibre team.
I watched the Salem/Landstown game the other day and just wanted to make a few comments. Salem seems to be a team on the rise and Landstown seems to be what Salem was 2 years ago-young with talent.

My son use to play many years ago with Salem and I still enjoy watching them play. I think #10,#13,#19,#7, and #5 are very good play players. The shortstop #10 seems to jump start this team. #13 & #5 seem to provide power. #19 big kid seems to be a very effective catcher while #7 looks very natural at second base.

Good luck to these young men and to all the beach teams.
