OL-2 Cox-1 12 inning pitching duel- great ballgame on a great afternoon. Tremendous effort put out by both starting pitchers. Brett Walker went 10 innings for Cox striking out 17. Myles Tracy went 10 innings for Ocean Lakes. Enselmo Cantu had a possible game saving catch down the 3rd base line in the top of the 12th for OL saving at least one run , then knocked in the game winning run with a clutch base hit for the Dolphins in the bottom of the 12th.

First Colonial 1 Kempsville 0 - 8 innings

Pitchers duel here also. Bulman pitched 7 allowed 2 hits, really a great outing, Muller pitched the 8th for the victory. Hewitt also went 7 innings and allowed 2 hits. FC secured the victory after Honneycut walk a batter and hit 2 batters in the 8th. He balked the runner in, compliment of coach Wilson experience. A realy tough way to lose a game but that kids a gamer and he'll learn from this situation. Soph Gary Bulman has pitched 26 inning this year and only giving up 2 earned runs but right now his record (0-1) doesn't really show how well he has pitched. A nice day at the park.

xOLHS Dad,

10 innings for both pitchers? How many pitches did they throw. I can imagine too many innings under 15 pitches so you are talking 130-150 pitches!

fcvdad,

I heard Bulman has been throwing well. I hope he continues to progress.

beachbaseballfan,

Delayed steals are used when the C is sleeping. Perhaps the coach saw something.

Redbird,

Imagine this...Walker threw only 109 pitches in 10 innings and was still strong. 85 of 109 pitches were for strikes. A masterful effort. Too bad Cox can't score some runs for their pitchers. It appears that they are pressing too hard instead of letting the game come to them. Just an opinion from my observations.

Not sure how many pitches the OL pitcher threw...but he did a great job also.

Redbird- I dont know how many pitches Myles ended up throwing.
Philly- sure luck helps but isnt it also true that the breaks usually tend to even themselves out. I think there is so much parity at the beach the old cliche "anyone can beat anyone on any given day " is certainly true. Im fairly certain that most thought that OL beating PA was just "luck" and a fluke. Then they (OL) lose to Salem and Green Run in pretty convincing fashion. Yesterday OL knocks off #4 Cox in 12 innings. Still just luck?? Yea maybe a little- 12 innings is a long time for a team to rely on purly luck alone though. Most didnt think FC would be very competitive this year either. (well not quite everyone but I think thats what the general concensus was on this board earlier. I think there record also speaks for itself "luck" or not. Still a long way to go this season so its going to be very interesting to see how it will finish. I dont think the early season favorites (plural)are stepping up and showing they have what it takes to live up to their (pre-season) expectations thus far this season.
Its all good- peace Smile
Cox 5 PA 4

Another extra inning game for Cox and this was a great game. Cox was ahead 3-0 when PA came back in the bottom of the 6th to go ahead 4-3. Cox tied it in the 7th, won it in the 8th. PA had a chance in the 7th to pull it out but just couldn't finish it. A couple of costly errors for PA in the 8th. W- Martin L-Hudson, both came on in relief. This was an exciting game to watch
First Colonial 8 Bayside 7

FC scored 3 in the first, Aaron Hill homered for Bayside in the second, Nick Cruitt hit one out for FC in the top of the 4th. Bayside tied it with a base loaded double in the bottom of the 4th. FC re-took the lead in the top of the 5th with a RBI sigle by R Sykes, but Bayside came back again with 3 runs to take a 7-5 lead. Guadalope and Crumpler had big hits in that inning. FC tied in the top of the 6th when Austin Wright started the inning off with a walk, Kevin Hill singled and Frank Berry recorded his 5th hit in the game with a double to tie the score at 7 - 7. FC won it in the 7th when 2nd baseman K Crumpler and RF Thompson collided on a Cruitt ball hit down the right field line, fortunately for FC the ball came out of Thompson's glove and Cruitt ended up on 3rd, a big break for FC. Bulman's sac fly to deep right won it for FC. The kids from Bayside can really hit the ball. For FC soph DJ Rathbone started and pitched 4 2/3 and Muller pick up the win with 2 1/3 . I believe soph Raul Matinez pitch the first 6 for Bayside and another soph (lefty) finished for Bayside. Another good game to watch. Hitters day.
