First Colonial 4 Green Run 3

Mike Rossic and Ryan Simmons hit back to back jacks in the 3rd to give Green run a 3 run lead. FC answered in the bottom of the 4th with a Andrew Duke 2 run base hit past the 3rd baseman and scored the tying run on a pass ball. In the 5th FC scored the go ahead and winning run when Ryan Sykes walked, stoled 2nd and scored when the ball got pass the 3rd baseman and another stolen abse attemp. Rossic went all the way on the rubber for Green Run. He threw a lot of breaking ball pitches and both team benefited from a BIG strike zone. FC pitched by committee again, Bulman 2, Fee 1, Rathbone 2 and Muller 2. Soph DJ Rathbone had another fine outing for FC and Muller finished the 7th.

Cox 10 - Kempsville 1. I don't think I have ever seen such a display of power in one inning as we witnessed last night. Take nothing from Kempsville as they are a talented team with some bright young players who will win their share of games this year. Kempsville scored an unearned run in the first on a misjudged infield pop fly and an infield throwing error wrapped around a single. The game stayed scoreless from then until the bottom of the fourth as Spencer Martin and David Hewitt both did an outstanding job. Hewitt being only a junior I believe appears to have a bright future as he kept Cox off balance with very good control. Martin was occasionally overpowering with a hard fastball and a good curve. But then Cox got the big bats going as John Malbon led off the fourth by crushing a line drive over the right field fence and two batters later Martin hit a two run jack to the same side putting Cox up 3 - 1. Hewitt gave up a couple more runs before being replaced by I believe Neil Ramirez(sorry if the spelling is wrong) a freshman who has some good talent but was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Malbon came up for the second time in the inning and hit a three run bomb that cleared the left field fence by at least fifty feet. James Adams then dinged one to straight away center and Martin followed with his second of the inning to cap the scoring. I think everyone at the game was amazed by what they had just seen. Ramirez and one other pitcher whom I don't know then held Cox scoreless the rest of the way although the falcons had multiple base runners each inning. Brett Walker pitched a scoreless 5th, 6th, and 7th with several strikeouts to finish the game. Again...nothing against a good Kempsville team...they just ran into a buzzsaw last night. Congrats to Cox.

The Falcons have a key matchup tomorrow night against First Colonial that could be pivotal for both teams even this early in the season. Should be a good game. Good Luck to both teams.
For all of you conspiracy theorist out there, here is the reason why Kellam hasn't played.
Mrs. Babb is the student Activity director/coordinator, and she called the games off.
On Tuesday, she cancelled the game because the tarp was on the field. She believed that since the tarp was on, the field must have been too wet to play (she doesn't understand the concept of using a filed tarp).
Wed, she cancelled the game at noon (a little premature), although the nicest part of the day was between 3pm and 5pm.
I agree with Doc, no one wants to play 2 or 3 games in a row.
Like dealing with your congressman, everyone needs to call Kellam and get Mrs. Babb on board with playing in a little rain.
First Colonial 3 Cox 2

Bulman helped his 5 inning piching effort with 2 doubles. In the 4th is first D tied the score at 1 run each and Austin Wright followed with a base hit down the right field line to give FC a 2 to 1 lead. Cox tied it in the six On a base hit, a walk, wild pitch and a infield ground out. Fc won it in the top of the 7th with a 2 out opp field double by Ryan Sykes. Bulman threw real well a solid outing and Muller pitched the 6th and 7th. Mania started and went 3 2/3 and Brett Walker finished with 3 1/3. A really well played game by both teams, great HS atmosphere and it could have gone either way.

PA had 1 hit that was hit in the air, the others were ground balls down the firstbase line. (Still Hits) Sounds like Kellam is having problems scoring runs. When will the Kellam seniors step up and start hitting? Kellam had 5 soph. in the line up yesterday along with Ray pitching, young team. I heard Ray pitched well enough to win with a little hitting.

Let give credit where credit is due.Jr Daniel Hudson is an oustanding pitcher. There will be a lot of teams having difficulty scoring runs against PA when he pitches. This kid is going to be good one, he has been solid in his 3 outings and add to the fact that PA is a very good defensive team, especially up the middle out to center field. great formula for sucess, thats why they are ranked # 2 in our area.

Dano,

Nothing against Hudson he pitched a very good game and is a very good pitcher, he would be just about anybodies ACE and would help any team in the beach. What I'm saying is that if the Seniors don't produce than play more of the sophmores and Juniors. I think alot of the coaches in the beach play the seniors because they are seniors and may not be the best players.
