Chis Taylor & Fieldbuilder,
As a courtesy, I normally let you guys start the threads. Did you guys play?
Landstown-7 Salem-6
Obviously, Landstown's biggest win of the season; unfortunately, the selection comes from a short list
Brad Chambers 2-2; Kyle Lawhorn 9 K's.
Salem had the game well in hand through 5 1/2 innings leading 3-0. With 1 out in the bottom-half of the 6th with 1 out, Kyle Lawhorn collected Landstown's first hit of the game (1-2;2BB).
Sometimes, it can be said that "hitting is contagious" as consecutive base-hits by the 2-4 hitters, Brad Chambers, Cameron Day, Cameron Butler, and (IBB)Raymond Mance (with a subsequent error)plated 3 runs to tie the game. Note: Landstown had the bases loaded with one out; Salems Coach Zell decided to go with Freshman Nate Vossler (ck/sp)which proved to be a good decision as Salem's relief pitcher did not allow another run.
Tied 3-3 in the top of the 7th; Cameron Butler relieved Kyle. Robbie Newman lead off with an In-The-Park HR; (Freshman Alex Nienberg starting only his 2nd game of the year took a bad angle; he probably didn't realize how hard Robbie's ball was hit. The young man gives great effort and will learn)
Salem would eventually load the bases with no outs, but only push across 1 more run; which would prove costly.
Landstown would get the first two batters on (9-1 hitters)via walks. Brad Chambers hit a triple and scored on a subsequent error(F/C).
Later in the inning, Landstown would have runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. Ball hit to third; force-out and throw to first for the double-play.
The ball got pass the First-baseman; unsure how(throwing/fielding). Ray Mance scored from first on the play, winning the game.
The game was our Seniors last Home Game, congrats Seniors and best of luck to you.
To Salem players; keep your chins up,you have a great Coach and staff plus Beach District Tournament ahead of you. You will have someone here
rooting for you and remember "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog".
