Beach District Results 4/26

In the Kellam/Kempsville game those errors by the short stop really hurt. Unforced errors are tough.

Landstown 6, Salem 4

Soliday started for Landstown, Colquhoon for Salem. Salem scored single runs in 3 of the first 4 innings, leading 3-0 going into the bottom of the 4th. Neuman led off the 4th for Salem with a monster home run to center-field. Salem scored 3 more on a bases loaded double(sorry, don't know the Salem batter's name). Landstown got 2 more runs, I think in the 6th. Jack Reynolds came in in the 4th and pitched 2/3 innings in relief for the win. Zack Hutchison shut down the Salem bats for the final 3 innings. Jack Reynolds singled in the winning run.

Landstown got extra base hits from Brad Chambers, Dan Knox and Frank Laster.

This is the first time Landstown has beaten Salem in baseball.

The bases loaded double was hit by Jimmy Grassano. Jimmy is another one of those freshman that just always seems to get the job done in big situations...just wait untill hes a junior along with Robby newman and Dan brion. When these three powerful kids become juniors "Moose" Calquhoun and Chris Harrington will be seniors...not exactly a force to be reckoned with.

This season has been tough But we will continue to work hard and win a few more games and then we will be in the beach district playoffs to prove that we can play.

YEP, AGREE, THAT WAS A GOOD GAME COMPARED TO THIER LAST 5. ONLY SAVING GRACE WAS THE BALL WAS ONLY HIT TO 3RD AND 2ND ONCE EACH, BUT 1 OF THOSE BECAME AN ERROR. BUT THAT BRINGS UP A SUBJECT THAT SHOULDN'T BE DISCUSSED ON THIS FORUM. ALL I CAN SAY, GOOD LUCK KEMPSVILLE.

The bunt IS a powerful weapon and many teams cant defend it. Thats why i like to take advantage of it when the third baseman makes the mistake of playing back....BIG NO-NO

Parity at the beach this year !!!!

parity @ the beach ? this is probably the weakest that i have seen the beach in many, many years ! perhaps there several "young" teams, but imo, from what i have seen the overall beach district is not very good this year.

If you think this year is bad, wait till next year. My son is an 05 grad and I have not seen it this weak in a long time. Most of the varsity teams look like JV teams. The quaility of baseball seems to be down all over the tidewater area not just the beach. Hopefully this only last 1 to 2 years.

look at the records and standings- i didnt say they were the best teams the beach has ever seen ( far from it for sure), just no team that imo stands out amoung the rest. guess i used the wrong adj.- thats it.

I disagree with you Driller---PA has an awesome team this year. Much stronger than last years. Your team, Kellam---is also a powerhouse this year. As far as FC goes, they seem as good as they did last year when they won the district. Who are you saying is weak that usually isn't weak?
