although being a fan of LHS sports , to defend cox they did help out this year when it came to the rain delay , but a little harsh with the words there ltownhsfan2
Cox was up 6-0 when I left..... As I was leaving someone hit a BOMB off of Bowman, a 3 run blast making it 6-0. Bailey pitched an outstanding game, had 11 K's through 6 and threw mostly fastballs......all for SWINGING strikes. I didn't hear the metal ping of FC's bat for almost three innings until the bottom of the 6th when Costen and Cook both hit deep balls that Kyricaou(sp?) ran down beautifully. Bailey had been tossing a one hitter to that point. Early miscues, and at least 4 errors by the SS for FC dug them a hole that they could never get out of. Bowman got the double play balls and grounders he needed, but the defense let him down on several ooccasions. Also timely bad baserunning calls on Stubbe's part got runners out and left the bases empty for hitters. He ran them out of innings.
Yes, FC was FLAT tonite....too bad. Bailey threw strikes and FC watched them go by. Very disappointing play by the whole FC squad. They looked like a deer in the headlights.
Cox moves on. Good Luck.

Grayson Bailey pitched a fantastic game. He had way more pop and movement on his fastball and worked ahead of almost every batter. FC could not catch up to the ball and there were as many swing-and-miss strikes as I recall seeing in years. (rumor has it he went to his pitching coach on Sunday....great tips!).
Stubbe didn't run FC out of anything. He sent Reinerth on an 0-2 count with two outs to second base with the score 2-0. It was a delayed steal which had worked to perfection many times this season. There weren't any other baserunners that were thrown out because Bailey was busy striking them out all night.
Bailey also hit the 3-run home run.
FC couldn't overcome early errors and a tough pitcher tonight.
All in all it was a great season for FC and congratulations to all the players and coaches.
Also congratulations to Cox who played a great game (and the players also restrained from banging on the bleachers).
Good luck Thursday and in the Regionals next week.

Congrats to Cox and Grayson Bailey, he struck out 14 and was dominating, a few errors put Cox ahead but they hit the ball hard, and when Bach lays down a bunt for hit, outstanding. Still don't undrstand why you warm up a lefty, he"s ready, and we pitch to Bailey who hit the ball hard all nite. He hit HR, just like the OL game, we had lefty on hill and we bring in a righty to face Morimando? who hit HR, oh well, Cox was the better team tonight and I think they will do well. the FC SS was money all year, tough night, but we were over matched. Ive watch Bowman for 3 years, a terrific competeitor and great pitcher and outstanding person, I wish him the best.
Over the last week, I have read a lot of negative comments. It is great to read the last few posts on this topic that are positive for both Cox and FC. Both teams had a great season as did OL. Congrats to all 3 teams.
Both games were great to watch. Bishop from Kellam has a very bright future. He did very, very well and is only a freshman.
Bailey had total command of the game, both on the mound and in the box. What an outstanding player.

That was a great game to watch. Bowman and Bailey threw great. it was definantly a pitchers duel for the most part until cox took the six run lead. great season First Colonial and great season Bowman.
