Congrats is due to Coach Conroy and the entire Cox Baseball Team.

To beat region # 2 PA and # 3 Kellam in the same season and be within one win of a regional birth after losing ten seniors is amazing.

This team has showed alot of heart to come back and never give up. After being blown out by FC and shutout by Kempsville, Cox was able to post come from behind wins in the tourney against Landstown and a tough pitcher in Ryan Crain and PA and Zach Woods.

Virginia Beach athletic officials screw up again. Why in the world wasn't the second round of the district play-offs played Monday? With two days of rain this really puts a strain on the pitching for whoever wins the tournament. If they played Saturday, Monday, Wednesday with Thursday being the rain day the winners pitching would be fine for the Region play-offs on Monday. I guess that would be to much for them to think of.

Well, how long have you lived here for? Haven't you even noticed the weather is never on cue. Even with triple doppler those meteorologists (w/ Masters) can't seem to get anything right. But, I hope they get to play tom.

And the decision to let the PA/Cox game go as long as it did. That game should have been called way before the 5th inning. The players could barely move in the mud on the field not to mention it was pouring for a good 45 minutes during the game. Cox played an awesome game but with the way PA had been swinging the bats lately you have to wonder if that slim 2-run lead was going to hold with them getting two more at bats? Oh well, just doesn't seem fair to let the game go as long as it did and then take away two of their at bats on top of it. Kellam/PA softball started from where they ended yesterday, what is the difference? the 1-1 score in the bottom of the 7th? I don't see how you can have a rule like that in the Beach District tournament regardless if PA had an automatic bid or not. But good luck to the rest of the teams, whoever joins PA in the regional tournament I'm sure will make the beach proud.

I agree with baseballislife the PA/Cox game should not have been played. By playing that game in under those conditions you take a chance of somebody getting hurt.

Philly Fan that is why the games are played. Cox has had some bad luck the last couple of years in the tournament.

Cox has played hard all year and both teams had to deal with the same conditions. This is not an excuse for PA's loss.

I agree with you both teams did have to play under the same conditions. And on that day COX played better than PA. How would COX have felt if they were in PA's shoes and the game was stopped? What would have happened if it was not PA playing and another team that was trying to make the playoffs, do you think they would have stopped the game or would they have suspended it.

Who will play Cox for the championship and is the game tonight?

I wasn't making an excuse for PA. Cox did play better than them that day. But to call the game before a team gets two more at bats when they are down two runs is ridiculous. The game shouldn't have ever gotten through the 3rd inning if it was even to be started at all. I think that the game should have been finished on a later date. Not fair to the PA players to lose a game when they don't get the right amount of at-bats.

Winner of the FC vs Kellam game (tonight at 7pm) will play Cox for the #2 seed.

5 innings in high school is considered a complete game.

Your right. Whoever is the beach number two seed is going to be in some pitching trouble. Kellam, FC, and Cox will all throw their number 1 and number 2 pitchers. Isn't much time to rest before the regional tourney.

You can also say should of, would of, and could of. What if Cox did'nt score 3 runs in the fifth and the umpires called the game. Cox would have just as much reason to complain as the PA players and parents are.

Does anyone know if the championship game between Cox and the winner of FC/Kellam is going to be on Friday?

not much info to put regarding the game, but most are prolly in bed by now so you will see tom. morning in the paper.

FC threw Topher Ellis for 4 innings and Austin Wright for 3. Sean Ray pitched for Kellam and gave up one run in the second. FC defense was outstanding coming up with a couple of double plays at the end when they really needed them.
Sean was the only lefty throwing.
