Luck was not a factor. Hard fought game. It was a great pitchers dual. Rameriz gave up 4 hits (5IP) (Little 1, 1IP) and Woods gave up 5 . The difference in the game was Kempsville's base running. Runner tagged out a home, runner sliding past 2nd and getting tagged out in the 5th (next batters hit would have scored him) and in 7th inning rally, after 1st run scored, tieing run at 2nd (0 outs) caught walking back to 2nd at end of the play.
To Rameriz's credit, 2 sloppy plays by the infield (1 ruled a hit, 1 E) put runners on that proved to be fatal, and 1st PA score was on a passed ball.
I believe that there was only one walk, and Kempsvilles other lone error did not help PA to score.
Good game to the end, for Kempsville to hold PA to 2 runs.
Cox beat Green Run 13-0 highlighted by Cody Winslow's 3-run HR. Greg Amorroso got the win (1 hitter I believe) and Reid Killen got the save. GR kids are scrappers, but their inexperience shows at times. Something needs to change over there. Its sad to see how far a once very strong team has dropped. I understand that they could not even field a JV team this year.
