With Kempsville's win yesterday, I believe the field for the Beach District Tourney has been set. Salem, despite the upset over Landstown yesterday, looks to be on the outside, looking in as they are a game back and lose the tiebreaker to both Kempsville and Tallwood. There are rumours floating around that, due to weather, the tourney may be reduced to 4 teams. That would result in a huge battle for the 4th spot. Hopefully the powers that be will not try and change the format this late in the season. There are certainly enough fields with tarps around the City where they can play on multiple fields and keep the tourney on schedule.

Cox 13-2
FC 12-3
Kellam 11-3
Ocean Lakes 8-6
PA 8-6
Landstown 7-7
Kempsville 6-8
Tallwood 6-9
Salem 5-10
Bayside 2-12
Green Run 1-13

If the tourney is reduced to only four teams then I cannot for the life of me figure out why OL would have pitched the kids yesterday that they did. It definately looked like they were setting up the pitching for the weekend.

I would think the coaches would know that if there is a possibility you might have to battle it out for the last position then you don't throw kids who haven't seen but minimal at best pitching appearances.
I agree...although I was bit surprised to see both Jacinto (sp?) and Morimundo (sp?) take the mound for OL with two more games this week and the tourney on saturday.

I'm guessing we may see a lot of teams trying to conserve pitching this week. I'm curious to see if Kellam throws Difulgo today against PA. Throw him today and he likely would throw only in the semi of the tourney. Save him for Saturday, and he may be able to come back and pitch again in the final if needed.
It was Jarzynka who started :-) and Morimando who finished. My guess is they were only going to throw 2 innings..

That sure is what it looked like.

I was a little stumped why Sean wasn't brought in when they took the lead. I am sure they have their reasons.

How did you like the work out the catcher was getting blocking all of those dirt/mud balls that the 3 pitchers in between were serving up. It could of got pretty ugly.
