Are they going to let you hit from both sides or are they totally changing you to one side? Also what are the reasons they have given you for the switch? How well do you hit from your current side? And as a senior this is a dramatic change because it can effect your swing from your normal side of the plate at least untill you get comfortable and that can take alot of time.
Make sure that you dont allow your swing from the left side to effect your right side swing. And dont neglect your work from the right side just because your learning a new swing. Personally from a coachs perspective this is something I would not do to you at this point and time. The season is getting ready to start how much time can you put into it. Heck your hitting 350 already. Good Luck
I started switch hitting much later in life than you (mens senior league) when I know my reflexes were not as quick as yours probobly are and found it quite easy to learn and also discovered I could see the ball better from a lefty swing. It does require more batting practice though. Don't neglect your current swing as mentioned. I think you will be surprised at how quickly you catch on to it.
I see two motivations for the coaches wanting you to switch to the other side. One, they will ask you to drag bunt more, and practicing switch hitting will make you more comfortable in the box to bunt. Second, they will ask you to try and hit the ball on the ground to the left side of the IF. This will allow your speed (and I am assuming you are a sub 7.0 runner) to control the game a little better. I agree with coaches above, don't split the time down the middle. Double your work and reps, and most of all, good luck!
