BeRecruited = Be Careful

Signed my son up on Berecruited.com. Next thing you know he gets an email saying that he has been mailed a studentadvantage.com card for savings on purchases. At first I din't realize where Student Advantage got his name and info. Then I checked the privacy policy of Berecruited. I was shocked at how much info they say they are entitled to give to other parties including financial.

I would imagine that if they do it others may too. They are the only site I can give a first hand account of. Just wanted to share this experience and let you know to be careful. No one ever thinks of checking privacy policies.

I use BeRecruited for some scouting purposes and I believe you have a public and a private profile. You decide how much info to give out. It seems to be a pretty good and low cost service, of course I think all of them sell certain information you feed them. I think some of the sites can help but there is nothing they can do for you that you cant do yourself.

As part of our of our deluxe program, users get a free, one-year membership from Student Advantage, which is the largest discount card for young people in the country. This is stated around all of our materials on the advantages to upgrading to the deluxe package.

I believe that Student Advantage is just trying to deliver the membership package to your son.

This is probably the fastest growing site for helping high school athletes get their names out, and at the same time it provides a great way for them to communicate with other athletes and friends.
