After a good discussion with CPLZ, off-site, I'll add this too. Just remember this has been our experience so far, some users will have more and some less success. But, I think it is safe to say it has been very beneficial for GED10. This is not a wholesale endorsement of their site, just my .02 cents worth about the sites usefulness.
In the beginning, ZERO direct contact as a 15 yr old sophomore, using the free profile. There was a significant number of profile views, but no real interaction, much like you'd expect over a 5'08 156 lb, 15 yr old sophomore.
Several coaches and pro scouts (yep - pro) looked at his profile and some even bookmarked the site. (All of this is tracked by the site and can be viewed by the player if they have the deluxe account.) We were very happy to see some interest, not really expecting much more. It was/is a great palce to put photos, clips, and even blog news updates. We did/do all three. All of this is available under the free account.
Before Sept 1st, 2009... GED10 received the normal canned camp invites and other e-mails, along with the profile tracking views.
Now as a 6'0 185lb 16 y/o junior, there has been significant "written personal contact" over the last month. Easily 25(+) coaches/rec coordinators have written letters and sent e-mail. But, they are very careful to say they are just inviting him to their camps/showcases and they will file his info away in their "preferred" recruit file, until Summer 2010. They are collecting questionnaires, asking for summer/fall/spring schedules, encouraging good work habits and study habits.
Just as much out-of-state D1/D2/D3/NAIA contact as in state. Also, one Texas JUCO bookmark and one JUCO e-mail.
We now have a deluxe account, but we used the free one for 11 months. If you want to see his profile I'll e-mail it to you or PM.
Hope this helps too. GED10DaD
