Yes, thanks. I did't see the open thread but after reading the posts I didn't see any responses to my question about success in getting a athletic scholarship by using the site. I would like to hear about any success stories. My son will be a 2013 graduate and I just want to explore all avenues to help him get an athletic scholarship.
Hi Score - I see you are fairly new to HSBBWeb. Welcome aboard! If you use the find feature, you will get a load of information on berecruited.com:

http://hsbaseballweb.com/eve/f...rum_scope=4686003481

Also check out the bar that pops out on the left-hand side and see the recruiting time-line. It will give you useful information.

Anything new, just ask away. Everyone here is only too willing to help. Best of luck! Big Grin
Thanks birdman14. I will be using the find feature for future inquries before I post. I scrolled through the responses and read a few. Most mentioned getting looks or contacts, etc. But I didn't see any post where anyone states they received a athletic scholarship by using berecruited.com. I didn't see any success stories. My guess it that is just one of the many ways to get your name out there but its best to be seen at showcases and tournaments.
I'll answer your question. No college recruiter is going to give a kid an offer based off a website. What it does is provides the recruiter a source to look for kids and then go see them. Example; if a school likes high GPAs they can search for those, call the high school coach to confirm, look at the kids summer schedule and then go see him. If they like tall pitchers they can do the same. Stuff like that.
socre101,
I'm a senior in hs and I'm going to a naia school in nebraska. I wanted to find schools in the midwest or california that I could play baseball at. I did have some contact with the school I'm going to on berecruited but most of the communication was stuff my dad and I did on our own to set up visits and stuff like that because of the distance. I don't know what level you want to play at so it might be a little different for your scenario.
We did not use berecruited.com but a similar site. A significant amount of interest was generated and several offers were made. The site itself is not what the recruiters liked, but it gave them enough info to see my son as a "prospect" and spend the time scouting him in games.

The programs that offered did acknowlege that they used the site and especially liked the video of taking grounders and hitting in a batting tunnel.

We received more interest than we could follow up on through the site and its ability to reach out to college recruiters.

I continue to believe that the site we used is superior to some others on the market, albeit more costly, but we had a lot of material to use to build the site my son had. My wife is a photographer, so we had a lot of photos, we shot our own video, and we linked to all the newspaper articles that had my sons stats and progress through his Junior season.

It is hard to know how much or how little the site helped my son, but I do know that we had more opportunities to pursue because of the site.

You are right, no coach is going to offer a scholarship from a website. On the other hand, many using berecruited.com would say that it was instrumental in getting coaches and scouts to come look at their son's. Coaches are going to want to see players, and usually more that once. This is a useful tool to get that done.
