My son (committed 2011) received a phone call from Bergen Beach representative Steve Bort last week inviting him to a Chicago-area tryout to be held next weekend. He mentioned something about this tryout potentially leading to a tournament in Puerto Rico.

My son agreed to have Mr. Bort send us an e-mail with the information. Upon receipt, we realized we'd be out of town that weekend. My son replied with a polite e-mail thanking him for the invitation and informing him he'd be unable to attend.

Last night Mr. Bort called again and acted as if he
hadn't seen our return e-mail. When my son reminded him that he was unable to attend the tryout, Mr. Bort replied:

"Fine. We'll just sell your spot to another player and give a scholarship to someone else." Then he slammed the phone down.

Wow! What a way to talk to a kid.

Son got the same phone call only he introduced himself as a scout for the Yankees.

Blew an email into The Yankees asking them if Mr. Bort is a scout for them...awaiting a reply.
