We have two at our house, and the approach of each is very different. We have Dave Weaver's DVD and Bob Bennett's. I like watching both to get different perspectives. Coach Weaver gives more background and basic information, and was our first. His approach is detailed and specific.

Coach Bennett's is more down-and-dirty-here's-what-you-do, and is more directed specifically to older players (IMHO), and you need to know something about the position to have it make sense. Coach Bennett takes the approach that catcher's may adapt using their own approach, and if it works, don't change it.

If you need to start at the beginning, you might want Coach Weaver's. If you are somewhat well-grounded in the basics, go for Coach Bennett's.

I look forward to seeing what others think on this one.
Over the years I have seen what seems like almost every catching DVD out there.

My favorites include:

Tom Griffin - Carson-Newman
Turtle Thomas - when at LSU
Ron Davini - (for HS kids)
Dave Weaver (for the young kids)

I also like the online videos from Ian Berksdale at Louisville and Joe Wilkins.

My favorite of all of them is the one I have put together for our HS kids. Has a combination of everyting I have learned from all the videos, handouts, etc., I have ever collected.

Coach, when can we purchase your DVD and how much will it cost?

Thanks!

It is still a few months away...I tried my best to get it out by the middle of the summer, but it's going to be the fall before it is available on the website. I'm doing it all myself and it is even more time consuming that I imagined! With that said, I'm really happy with how it is turning out!

I think it will be $50, but I'll probably offer a sale for the first 100 orders.

Also, it looks like it will be a little over 2 hours. I'm making progress on the book too, but it is a slow process as well. I want to make them as high quality as I can the first time and not leave anything out.

Thanks for asking! If you're not signed up for my free newsletter please sign up on my website...I will send email updates through that.
PatrickW,

Thanks for the interest! Unfortunately I was a little too optimistic about the DVD release date...I'm hoping that it is ready for sale by January because I'm speaking at the ABCA convention and would like to have it ready for that.

I have had too many projects going on at once...coaching (full time job), making progress on my book, DVD, and now the Catcher's Performance Summary iPhone app (which should be ready in about a month).

I apologize to all the people that are waiting on it, I really did have intentions to get it done before now...I underestimated how much time and effort would go into making a DVD.
