I will start it, in the Semi-finals of
the Division II state playoffs, Tivon
Fanete, centerfielder for Christchurch,
from Curaceo, with one out, caught a
fairly deep fly ball and gunned a Steward
runner at the plate of what would be a 2-0
game. Big play that one could argue changed
the momentum of the game. The throw was
on line with no bounces!
I spent a lot of the year watching the same games as MUFan and I would have to agree that the 8-2 DP produced by Tivon Faneyte in the CCS v Steward Semi-Final was a huge play. Top of the 1st, CCS had kicked the ball around a little to put their Pitcher in a Jam (1st & 3rd with 1 out). A well struck ball to CF, and Tivon did his best impersonation of Ken Griffey, Jr or Ichiro Suzuki, charging forward through the catch, quick transfer & throw, and nailed the runner by 10-15 feet. A HUGE momentum swing that set the tone for the rest of the game.

Another BIG CLUTCH play came in the St. Chris @ CCS game a couple of weeks earlier. CCS had defeated St. Chris at their place, and needed to sweep the season series to stake a claim to the outright title of the VPL. In the re-match, CCS kicked the ball around a little, mis-played numerous fly balls, and made some costly base-running mistakes. St. Chris was playing very well, and led 4-2 coming into the bottom of the 7th. With 2 out, 1 in, and Tivon Faneyte at the plate; Travis Myers stole home on a throw back to the Pitcher to tie the game at 4. After loading the bases pitching around some of CCS' big bats, the winning run was plated on a HBP. A great do or die play by the young Myers.

2012 Battlefield District Championship Game - Eastern View (#4 seed) vs King George (#2 seed).

Bottom of the 7th, 2 outs, runner on 2nd, King George trailing 4-5. Eastern View has just walked Damien Carroll (hit a 2 run blast in the 5th) and he subsequently stole 2nd. After working the count to 3-2 Dylan Dombrowskas ripped a line drive to the left field corner scoring Damien to tie the ball game at 5-5.

In the 8th it was almost a repeat - only different players - 2 outs, Steven Jenkins on 3rd, count at 3-2, Cody Bell hits a hard liner up the middle which bounces off the rubber and the 2nd baseman can't handle. Jenkins scores and Cody reaches base. Game over.
