Tough question. I think it varies by region of the country that you are in. There are some national/regional events, particularly the ones put on by Perfect Game and their WWBA division that are excellent. Not all of the smaller D1 colleges attend these events, but the larger ones are there.

If you have a list of colleges you are interested in, you could call the coaching staff at the schools you are interested in attending and ask them what events they will be attending this year.

The baseball community is a small one. All of the coaches are friendly competitors (for the most part). They seem to share information, or they get calls from umps that did the game, telling them about some kid they saw there, or a former player may be watching and give a coach a call.

Key is to always be ready because you never know who will be watching and who has contacts where. Play your best, hustle, keep a good attitude and be a good team player.

We went the Perfect Game route, and it worked out very well for us.
