I'm with Boris on the Italian Beef but I've got to travel a little to get my favorite. I'll either drive to Johnny's in Elmwood Park or their new spot just south of Golf Rd on Arlington Hts. Road.

Not just beef, of course. Italian sausage, peppers and some Italian ice.

That food is like eating candy to me and my son. When done right there is nothing better, anywhere!
FBD...soybeans, not wood.

"Tofu, also known as soybean curd, is a soft, cheese-like food made by curdling fresh hot soymilk with a coagulant."

Yum! Hard to turn down a rich, smooth coagulant...and curdled to boot!

itsrosy...we're near the original on North Ave. That's a great idea for Sunday. The horsemeat idea from FBD isn't bad either!

CoachB25...just a little jealous? Maybe we'll have to arrange a swap ...Italian beef for some of your Christmas chili...maybe next Christmas?

gotwood4sale, making some of the Chili this weekend. Can't wait. We are "messing" with it a little and are going to try to sub in some "white beans." I don't think I'm going to like it. Why mess with perfection. So you all know, I'm a sucker for Italian Beef. However, it's hard to find quality. A lot of people sell it but few make it if you know what I mean!
rosy,

Johnny's is the deal. (Elmwood Park)

But don't miss the Alpine food shop just down the street! (go west almost to Lathrop at the light, north side of the street, same as Johnny's).The line can be like Johnny's, so call ahead and they will have it ready for you.

Be sure to get the "Alpine Sandwich"....no better Italian Sub type sandwich on the planet.

Get the large one and take it home for halftime.
Thanks sox...we'll have to try the Alpine Food Shop sometime soon.

CoachB25...you're flirting with danger with all of that "white bean" talk...if you insist with messing with perfection don't bother with the "white beans"...try mixing in some "has beens" instead. They're definitely less noisy!

And I absolutely know what you mean between selling and making.

My Wife got this from my Sister-in-Law from Tennessee. Should know they don't know how to make Chili in Tennessee. There is hope still. If I pout long enough, I still might win. Keep your fingers crossed.

Itsrosy, I know. I've been to the Windy City before and once a person does that, all hope is lost if they think that they can match that down here. (Of course I haven't been to St. Louis on the hill. I hear they have the real stuff over there as well.)
