Have a situation where the players best college position may not be what is best for his high school team.

Do you think it hurts a player to play out of position his senior year in order to do what is best for the team? Does this hurt his chances in college?

My thoughts are that in High School, a coach has to do what is best for the team in order to win, and cannot afford to worry about what ifs at the next level for a player.

Any thoughts.

Do you think most major college position players were at some point shortstops?

Good topic.

My 2007 was the Varsity SS as a freshman. The coach, a former D1 and minor leaguer changed him to CF afterwards because he said colleges and scouts would move him to the outfield anyway.

As he matures, it looks like he may go from CF to corner OF by the time he plays his first college game.

In our HS, we have an adequate defensive replacement for SS, unfortunately, he also displays the old-time traditional bat for a SS.............NONE!!
