Best in Virginia Showcase Camp

Son attended BIV last summer and said it was the best experience!

Truly one of the best around; the only better exposure in Virginia is the Commonwealth Games, which is a tough ticket to land.

Suggestions:

-Sign up early as it always sells out early;
-Send lots of water and Gatorade;
-Rooms are air conditioned but a fan is still nice;
-Players should rest every possible second as they will truly be exhausted by the end.
-You truly never know who is watching-lots of coaches and scouts around, all the time;
-Send lots of water and Gatorade (said that twice on purpose as it is HOT);
-Don't play a bunch of games in the days before going-be well rested and ready.

Adding on to hokieone......Son was there during those high 90 days last summer. Along with the boys bringing drinks, every place the boys gathered they had water jugs.Bring lots of socks and shirts as they will sweat alot and get "filthy" LOL
Also pack snacks too if your boy eats 24/7 like mine!!!!!

Our son attended last summer.

If your's goes, he might want to keep in mind that, in the last two days of the session the pace of the action is really ramped up. I got the feeling that they wanted to put pressure on the guys to see how they would do. It also seemed to make the guys who really seemed to "want it" stand out - they were the ones who were noticably hustling while the others were drooping.

Make sure he is in best shape possible. It is a long week.

The players and coaches work closely together and get a good look at each other. There are a lot of talented coaches and players attending.

Another note...BIV is where my son met his soon to be college coach!!!!!!

Do any of you remember if there were any coaches from NC colleges(D1-D3)? Or are they mostly from VA colleges?

The web site used to list the coaches from previous years, and there have been coaches from North Carolina schools; my recollection is that the number of ACC coaches the years my sons attended was typically 3-4, but lots of mid-Atlantic D-1,2,3 coaches. Both of our sons attended the BIV as sophmores and again as juniors. Well worth the money.

The way it works, the position/skills sessions coaches are all college assistants. Their team coaches are more from the HS ranks. Then, on showcase day, there is a very nice collection of college coaches around watching the showcase infield and some of the games.

Son was there and loved it. Got lots of exposure. There are many coaches there at the showcase game. He is still getting calls from D III coaches that saw him there. Parents can bring their chairs (and water) and watch the games. Stay at the Hampton Inn in Farmville, a brand new and very nice hotel.
