Best Player in Illinois

No offense, but I don't think any one on here cares. Ranking players is for MLB. However, yes, Colin Bates is a very good player. I've played with and against him. Great competitor.

Its tough to say who the best player in state is this early in the season but i do agree with you on bates, he will deffinately be one of the top players. I have played against him over the summer and this past fall in the whitewox wooden bat league. I have also played against him with in the last week.

Its a big state with lots of schools. Can't see them all. I agree with eg12, leave it to the pros. Although I know its fun to talk about. Take a look at prepbaseballreport.com at their early commitment list. Lots of Illinois players going to top level college baseball programs. Should be a good spring for baseball.

How come only 6 of 20 varsity players on Lockport's team are seniors?

This seems a little disproportionate.

playdog- this could be because of last years team.... last years team was senior driven and thats all that was on the team was seniors so that could have been why there are now only six seniors left

There are many great ball players out there, some kid's dont get their names out to well. But in my opinion id have to say Connor Powers

Wouldn't be all that surprised if it's someone away from the Chicago area this year. Been seeing lots of scouts at Central Illinois games this spring, so far. At the same time, how do we ever know who the best is anyway? Highest draft? Not necessarily, as signability comes into the equation. Maybe the first '06 that makes it to the big leagues years from now? If any of them ever do. Lots to think about.
