What is the best angle to get video of son batting to send to colleges (to put short video together)? Can you provide an example? Right hand hitter. Do they want close up? do they want to see where the ball goes. does it matter if an out or a hit?

From what I've heard from the open side so that they can clearly see his swing. So that would be from the first base side for a righty. I don't think they care about the actual result, everyone can cherrypick a big hit. Maybe pick a hard hit ball with whatever is a typical swing for him.

As a Coach, I would review the film to my team's hitting goals.Is the hitter "stiff" or relaxed? Where does he stand in the batter's box? Where are his eyes during the swing. Who is the pitcher?
Can the hitter make the necessary hitting adjustments to assist the team's style of hitting. Remember there are 11 ways to score from 3rd base with less than 2 outs.
Learn the "background" of the Coach before you send the tape.

Good points, Ty. So can a coach get an idea of the pitch if the angle is from the open stance side (which I did in the past) or is it better to be more at a 1/4 angle to show the pitcher as well?
I will attach an example. Cell phone video is better than anything that has been uploaded. Being able to slo mo, freeze frame, etc is very helpful

No, not really. In game at bats you want to see the flight of the ball and the result of the hit. Think game video for results and cage video for technique

You want both
agree ... you'll want both - skills videos AND in-game performance videos; and you'll want both for hitting and fielding. Oh, and don't forget to enjoy watching the game as you try to get all this video.

Bob. How does the background of the coach change what you send?

Has the Coach previously select players previously thru video? Is his background as a pitcher or hitter? What is team's hitting philosophy ? Can you ask current players or former players?

Practice AB's from the side (Open), Game AB's from behind (off angle to open side) so you can get the pitcher and pitch in the frame.
