My son went to a college camp/showcase last weekend. The head coach said he expected everyone to hustle at all times, and show a positive attitude. They ran batting practice in groups of five, and each group went thru twice. I watched several groups hustle in and out of the cages, and swing at good pitches. But in one group, a player leisurely walked toward the plate, the coach yelled at him to hustle, but he kept up the same pace. He got all high inside pitches to swing at. He sauntered out of the cage as slowly as he walked in, and did the same thing his next turn in the cage. The coach looked mad, but it didnt change the kids speed. I didnt notice how the kid did during the rest of the camp, but he would have to do alot to overcome the impression he made during batting practice. The kid looked so lazy, even my son commented about him in the evening. I can't understand someone spending their time and money at a camp to gain exposure, and having such a poor effort.
