It's so tough to see the senior season end, but it sounds like Joe Blackburn (Luvbb's son) played a great final game:
http://gopsusports.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/recaps/052308aab.html

Joe ended his senior season with a .342 batting average, .497 slugging percentage, and 43 RBI. You couldn't read a PSU game recap this season without seeing Joe's name popping up in the highlights. And of course Joe probably contributes even more behind the plate at catcher, as noted in his team bio:

"Joe will be looking to end his career with a monster year at the plate and with another solid year of handling the outstanding Penn State pitching staff behind the plate as he hopes to build his draft stock while helping the Nittany Lions to another successful season. Joe will be one of the top hitters in the Big Ten this year after finishing in the top 10 in several offensive categories in the Big Ten last year and will be the team's primary catcher while also playing DH at times and he can also play first base. One of two fifth-year seniors on the team, Joe is known for working well with the pitching staff and his outstanding work with the team's outstanding pitchers is evidenced by the difference in ERA last year when he was the catcher."

Congratulations Joe! He is one of the young men whose name I hope to hear called in a couple of weeks.

I don't mean to hog this thread, but just wanted to share this video. I sobbed through it - I don't know why, maybe it's the injury Joe Blackburn fought back after, or knowing what a nice young man he is and the great family he comes from. (You have to log in to watch, but it's free and only took me a few seconds to register.)

Watch for #25 throughout the video - from the opening seconds hugging his mom (luvbb), to the walk-off grand slam at the end.

Beezer...were you able to get there Saturday. Unfortunately, our run ended on Friday...so we were busy packing up on Saturday.

Julie...re: the video..you know, I think EVERY player should be lucky enough have that ONE moment where time stands still while you are living your dream. That walk-off grand slam was CERTAINLY my son's moment in the sun! It still brings a smile to ALL our faces! It is bittersweet right now tho...biding time now hoping the baseball dream is still alive. Time will tell. But even if it is over, he certainly has had a LIFETIME of memories and friendships packed into the past 5 years! What more can you ask for? Smile
