John Hopkins, Univ of Michigan, Clemson all jump to mind. John Hopkins probably fits what you are asking for closest.

Tufts.

Not sure I know of Tufts...where is it located?
Anybody have any more suggestions?

Tufts is in the Boston area.

Other D3 schools with biomedical engineering are University of Rochester (NY) and Case Western (Cleveland). Both school are excellent academically. Universities with biomedical engineering usually have a medical school affiliation.

My son just finished his sophomore year at the University of Rochester, and was a Biomedical Engineering Major. I say "was" because he just switched to Biology with a track toward cell and microbiology research. He also has his credits for a Biomedical Engineering Minor. Fantastic school, affiliated with Strong Memorial Hospital adjacent/part of campus. Go to their website www.rochester.edu and start browsing.

Our son is also a two year starter and leadoff batter for the Yellowjackets. They had a great season with a 28-13 record, and just missed by a few points (NCAA system regarding wins/losses/competition - in region and outside of the region, and rankings) making the NCAA Regional tournament which just concluded this evening, and the winner moving on to the Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin.

The head coach is Joe Reina. Great guy, manager, and really cares for his players both on and off the field, but more importantly in the classroom. The players are all close and usually dorm together after their freshman year. Son picked Rochester over Tufts, University of Chicago, Emory, Tulane, and Missouri. The coach really put forth the interest in having our son at UR. Freshman year the students are all required to live in the freshman dorms which are adjacent to all of the main campus buildings, and right across the street from the athletic facilities.
