Lenny Dykstra led the NL in walks because he blackmailed umpires with info he got by paying investigators half a million buck to dig up dirt on them. At least that's what he says.

I used to love Lenny "Nails" Dysktra. He played hard. But the more I learn about him, the more of a sleazeball I realize he was/is. Don't like him so much any more.
Me too! I lived in NYC for most of the 80's and went to a lot of Mets games. That 85, 86, 87 team was really entertaining. They were not all upright citizens, that's for sure, but they embodied their era and were loads of fun to root for.
What a piece.... "I had to do what I had to do to win and support my family". I think your family would much rather see you keep your integrity than your $$$. I'm sure this is somewhat embellished to sell his book... and make more $$$.
Lenny Dykstra is a convicted con man. He's full of horse manure. I wouldn't believe anything he says.
He's also a classless act. On July 4th fireworks night fans sit on the field after the game. Dykstra sat near our family with his family. I couldn't believe the foul mouth around kids. It was f'n this, f'n that. Parents were asking him to watch his mouth. He played the "Do you know who I f'n am? If you don't like it, f'n leave. FU" card. What a great ambassador for a family night. My kids (8 & 3 at the time) weren't impressed.
Lenny is not ever going to win a role model award...he was an intense competitor and gamer for sure. There is no doubt he is bad guy. A classic example of an athlete who never developed off the field.
