My son is the starting pitcher for his JV squad and a relief pitcher for Varsity. After approximately thirty to thirty five pitches he develops a sore or tear on his right hand pointer finger. This did not present any real dilemmas with his fast ball but it causes him to slow his curve arm speed and the pitch alsmost becomes troubled in hitting spots. He slows the entire delivery about 10% in an effort to try and keep the finger from getting worse, So I have a few questions:

1. Is there any type of care he can do to his finger to make it less suseptable to having the blister/tear? When not pitiching, creams, liquids, etc.
2. Is there any type of medication that will help heal the area in short time. (I am not looking for "vodoo" medicine but any thoughts or ideas would be great.

I know Josh Beckett developed some similar symptons years ago as a Marlin, and he was able to strenthen the skin in the area, but I was hoping for some advice.

Thanks

He has been training with a professional pitching coach for the last six years so his mechanics are not a question here. The coach thinks that it is a product of nail biting and cutting the nail short of the cutical, thus as he is gripping the ball to break it off when throwing, it's pulling in that area and causing a rubbed spot and a pull on the seam, thus a blister and tear.
I am going to try the tough skin
