Brutal heat this weekend--heat index in the 115 range. Only 15-18 schools in attendance, but they got all the games in, and the players had a chance to show their stuff. It's all I ever ask. Personally, it might have been better to stay at home, as Jr is sufferring from the effects of upwards to 70 games and a week of intense BIV Camp. 60 time was .15 slower than in late spring (still a 6.94) and pop time was slow (2.08) as he complained of dead legs. His BP was good from both sides, so we'll see what happens. Gus did a good job with things, but I wonder if they've reached a point of diminishing returns with so much in the SE back-to-back-to-back-to-back (Wake, UNCG, W&M, CCU) all in a 10 day period.

How many colleges did you see in the 70 game schedule? have seen many colleges at PG at East Cobb and PG in jupiter, but usually it is just parents at most summer tournaments.

I have seen way more colleges and MLB scouts at a good HS Showcase then I saw at The Senior Babe Ruth World Series and American Legion World Series together.

6.94 is a terrible 40 yard time, sure you meant 60 yard.

Plus if he is not at 100% you are hurting him sending him to a HS Showcase.

JT,
Keep in mind that most SE college coaches are back on campus as school has either begun or begins next week.
Coaches are busy helping with their new recruits, move in, meetings, etc. They have had a full summer with camps, travel. We never did anything in the summer after the first week in August.
Yes, it was his 60 time. I've already edited it--thanks for noticing.

TPM, you are right, many colleges (CCU included) were already on campus working with their teams. The CCU event was our last pick and we were supposed to be at UNCG a week earlier, however, his legion team was still playing in regionals, so we were forced to reschedule, or eat the $$.

As far as him not being at his best, you're right, but I could not even consider blowing off the $$.
JT,

It's just my guess but I'm thinking, after 4 years and two sons going to many showcases and camps, that 60 times, while specific, are more likely general indicators of speed. I've seen my younger son timed in everything from 7.5 to 7.01, and almost everything in between. Watching him run, he appears fast, but not Olympic speed. His 40 time in the spring was consistently 4.7, good but not blinding. Showcase timing seems pretty erratic at best. Your son's time means he's surely considered fast, as slow guys don't run in that neighborhood. Grass being low or high, wet or dry, timing by hand or electronic, starting on the starters' signal or first movement-all these affect the times.
