Congrats to Bobby Stevens, Ricky Angel and the rest of the Twin City Stars on winning the CICL Championship today.

Bobby hit a go-ahead dinger in the 8th and the Stars hung on to win. He was 3-4 in the first game of this best of 3 as well. Way to step it up when it counts. Bobby finished 3rd in the CICL in hitting.

Bobby came on strong at the end of the spring and stayed hot all summer. Looking forward to a special soph year.

Real nice summer for Bobby. NIU/Twin City teammate Trevor Feeney lit it up in 2nd half of season.
Really enjoyed the 4 or 5 CICL games I saw at beautiful Dupage/IBC venue.
Also, I believe NIU's Scott Simon was 2nd in hitting. Some Mlb organization should give this guy a shot next June. Know they want more power at the corners but he can flatout hit.
Not only was Bobby the hero of the championship game, he was named one of 3 MVPs of the tournament. Bobby congrats and go gettem’ this year! GREAT STUFF!

From the CICL web-site;
“The 2006 CICL Tournament Player MVP is shared among three players, Bobby Stevens and Michael Stalowy of the Twin City Stars and Evan Button of the Danville Dans.”

“In addition to his game-winning solo homer in the bottom of the 8th inning to win the championship game, Stevens led all players in the tournament with 6 runs scored, tied for 2nd in hits with 8, batted .381 for the tourney to lead the Stars, had a .619 slugging percentage, a .458 on-base percentage and 13 total bases. Stevens hails from Chicago and will be a sophomore this fall at Northern Illinois University.”
And it could'nt have happened to a better kid!

All you young guys in HS who want to see what it is a scout at the next level looks for, go watch Bobby play ball. He hustles, he runs, has pop, and is athletic. But his biggest attribute to me is his work ethic and his great makeup. You will hear alot about Bobby over the next few yrs , IMO...

This news really doesnt come as a surprise but your right Smokey, good stuff...
deucedoc.....

Your post should be made into a "poster", and hung in ever high school locker room!!!!! Athletic, hustles, runs, pop, are ever important. BUT, if you fold in the work ethic and make-up, you will have a "stud" college/pro player!!!!!!!!

Tell all of the supposed stud players who have the ability, size, athletics, that they will not last at the next levels of baseball, if they don't have work ethic and make-up. To me, those are the two most important factors for success at the next levels. We all know that most are capable of playing there, but lack those two crucial ingredients.

I haven't seen Bobby play, and I wish I had. It sounds as if he will be playing at higher levels sooner than most other players in D1!!!!!!

"Make-up, work ethic", I love it!! Way to go Bobby!!!!!

Big Grin
