Looking for anyone that might have dealt with this situation before.
My 16 year old son Rh pitchers from day one picking up a baseball to throw in January stated that his elbow hurt inside the joint. Even with just throwing easy he said he felt pain in his elbow. At first we thought it was something he just needed to work through and as his arm got more conditioned to throwing it would go away.
The pain unfortunatley had intesified the more he has thrown. He has been doing his band work without any pain. In fact he can hit do push ups, pull-ups and anything else without pain. The only time it bothers him is when he throws.
This past monday we took him to see a good sports orthopedic doctor who has a good reputation for dealing with pitchers. He tested his arm for possible UCL ligament damage and says that everything is fine there and that he does not have any ligament issues. His X-Rays the doc says look fine and represent an elbow of a pitcher who is healthy and just starting out in his pitching career. He said he feels that the problem is a bone bruise in the inner elbow caused by hyper extension. I just do not get why it would hurt from day one. HIs recommendation is two weeks rest with continuation of band work 3 times a week then starting up with a gradual throwing program. I am skeptical that this is all it will take because when he first threw and had pain we had stopped after a couple of throwing sessions for about two weeks then when we started throwing again the pain was still there.
Just curious if anyone else has dealt with something similar.
