In my opinion, the Bradley Braves have a top-notch coaching staff and recruit very good talent from the region. Coach Corbin is the pitching coach and is well respected in the coaching ranks. Other college coaches have called him, "Dr. Corbin". My 2013 has had several conversations at camps with Coach Corbin over the past couple of years and he finds him to be extremely knowledgeable. But more importantly, a genuinely nice guy dedicated to making pitchers better.

Coach Sean Lyons also appears to be a stand-up guy and someone you can feel comfortable with as the recruiting coordinator. He recently took time prior to a Bradley home game to call my son down to the dugout to discuss how school has been going and how PG Spring league finished up. That impressed my kid...considering my kid is probably not high on their recruiting list.

My son has had only limited interaction with Coach Dominguez (HC), but based on the quality of his assistants, you have to believe he knows what he is doing. Coach Corbin followed Dominguez from Eastern Kentucky to help rebuild the Bradley program.

Great ballpark and a great school to earn a degree from.

Bleacher Dad, I apologize in advance, but I hope you don't mind if I use your post and your 2013 son as an example for others who might read this thread.

What I've learned through our son's experience and many other parents that I talk to is this - your son needs to have as much interaction as possible with the head coach so that he can use his gut instincts to determine if he feels like he has a good "connection" with the head coach. The assistants might be great guys, but they're not the ones who will be filling out the starting lineup card.

Many coaches have "favorites" - it's only human nature, most of us do. And while most players would like to earn their playing time based on merit, I think many would agree that they'd rather play, even if it's only because they're a
"favorite", than to be sitting on the bench.
No problem...the post I was responding to asked what we knew about the coaches. I only stated what we knew. Since, as I noted, my kid is not at the top of their recruiting list, my 2013 has dealt with the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator more.

Kids should absolutely get to know the Head Coach, but I'll still bet that they know the assistants better...particularly through showcases and camps.

Point taken, however.
