My 07's HS season started last week and right now he is batting above .600, has 7 rbi's, scored 4 runs, and has put out 14 runners. He's the starting catcher. In one game he went 4-4. Three of those were doubles, knocked in 4 runs and scored twice. This game was during a wood bat tourney. Although the team is 1-4 he is doing OK.

I also have an 09 on the JV team who is doing alright. His defense is better than his bat, but in two games he has scored twice and has put out 4 runners. He plays at 2B.
Sounds like everyone is enjoying the baseball season! Enjoyable thread. You're right, it's just not realistic to sit in the stands and brag! Normally I'm not a bragger at all, but I think we're all on the level here as baseball die-hards and it is good to vent a little.

Well, my '07 first baseman is off to a great start with JV. As mentioned in another post, being a soph. at our very large school V is a rarity unless you're a star pitcher. We still have hope, though. Here in the N-E our season just began last week (4/1). Unfortunately we've had lots of rain, too...so already two postponed.

Well, with two games under their belts, son is currently batting .833. He's always had a very good bat, but is really putting it to good use this year. He's 5 for 6 in "official" games, with 2 dbls., 3 singles, 5RBI, 2 scored, 2 walks, batting clean-up, and playing every inning.

Now add in the 3 scrimmages prior and that jumps his avg. to .857 (12 for 14). Overall he has 1 triple, 4 doubles, 7 singles, 3 walks, 1 soe, 1 k-s, 11 RBI, 7 scores.

Not a bad start. He's really challenging himself to keep it up. I really believe he needs to be on V for a bigger challenge, but not a lot we can do about that. Son has played up since 12U at both travel and Legion levels, and so far last year and this with h.s. ball have been two giant steps back as far as challenging him. Not much else we can do other than continue striving to be his personal best nomatter where. And he still has almost two months to work his way up there.

A good sign from the V coach...he asked him to play for his travel summer team. So some 18U travel tournaments to look forward to.

Thanks for listening! Keep'em coming.
Well why not,my kid a 3 year versity player in high school a (JUNIOR)had his frist game today on the mond (this year), struck-out 9 and walked 2, give up 5 hits plus 1 homerun. it was his frist time on the hill this spring due to weather, no scrimages right out of the gym.he got the win 5-3 and went 2for4. NOT SO BAD.
I have resisted posting here but little CV saved the day and the local paper gave him a favorable line so what the hey here you go:

"Danny Crane picked up two hits on the afternoon, but his biggest contribution came in the bottom of the seventh inning from his shortstop position. With a runner on third and two outs, Liberty had a chance to tie things up, but a blooper into shallow left-center wasn’t enough to fool Crane, who made a clean play to end the game."

It was an exciting game and down to the wire for my '05.

I've resisted this for a few days, but just can't help myself Razz

H3 Jr is having a great final campaign in HS. So far this season, in 28 1/3 innings, he's 5-0 with 7BB and 55K's. He put the icing on it this past tuesday night with a 7 inning perfect game striking out 15.

Orlando ... yes, he's calling his own pitches ... his catchers are a junior and a sophomore. duel

I tried to resist, but why not...

Younger son, junior in High School, coming off of shoulder surgery got off to a bit of a slow start, but since district play has started in 10-5A (Texas) he is 10 for 25 (.400) with 1, HR and 7 doubles...he is starting to put together the type of year we had hoped for.

Older son playing Div. 1 Juco, made it as a walk-on, has not played much this year as a freshman, he was 2 for 4 with 3 rbi's. He got his first regular season college start last night in a non conference game and homered (obviously his first college home run). He is now 3 for 7 with 4 rbi's. Another memory he will treasure.
I don't like to do this but what the heck. My son, Brandon Copp, 05 Lhp from West Aurora HS in Il threw a no-hitter tonight with 16 k's and 1 bb. The most exciting thing about it was his surge in velocity. He's always been very effective and pro scouts looked at him as a "nice little lefty" which was true as he was 81-83 early in season. A little mechanical adjustment and 2 weeks ago he was 82-84. Last week he was 82-85. Tonight he was 83-88 and still touching 87 in the 6th & 7th. Sorry - but we've been waiting for years for the velocity to arrive and to see 88 on a gun is still unbeleivable to me. A very happy day as it was 86 & sunny here in Il while the Sox are playing well & the Bulls are going to the playoffs.
Well i got my new bat in so it was my first game with my new bat on tuesday. I went 2-3 with it with 2 singles, a grounder to third, and a sac bunt. The big story that came that morning when my coach told me i had the start. I already was 1-0 going into it but i was very nervous. I had a no-hitter goin into the 7th when i let up a blooper to Right, then a Hard base hit through 3rd and SS loosing my No Hitter, 1 hitter, and Shut-out all in one inning. I had 15 K's. The team wasn't very that good so it wasn't an Amazing preformence but i just wanted to tell someone.
To denisr400, that is a great hurdle for your son to cross. Congratulations to both of you...

As I said in a post yesterday, my son is a 5'2" freshman, starting at shortstop on our Varsity team. He's doing well there.

It is always hard to watch the other teams looking at him and pointing etc... until they see him field a ball and throw it.

The respect he has been shown after the games by opposing players and coaches has been very nice.
My son has been off and on, but has had a few things to boast about. He is a 14 y.o. freshman playing on one of the most prestigous schools in KY. He is a LHP/1st baseman. His first outing on the mound produced his first HS no-hitter. The next day, he hit his 1st HS HR over the 340 sign in RCF. His average was running consistantly around .400, but due to a recent slump has dipped to .327. I am still very proud of him!!
