I feel terrible for this guy and sure hope Bobby Cox sticks with him so he can "redeem" himself in the next game.

Hoever, I don't think he needs to redeem himself. **** happens. Get back on the field and play tomorrow.

Also, the Atlanta fans should be ashamed of themselves. It's widely known the Braves some of the most supportive fans around but they took a giant step back in my mind by booing Conrad.

Booing? Seriously?

A few years ago I went to a Cubs' game where Sammy Sosa struck out three of his first four at bats. The "fans" booed him after the third K.

In the 11th inning, he hit a walk-off home run and the place erupted and these same "fans" gave him a standing ovation.

The AJC front page headlines" NO DEFENSE FOR THIS ONE" accompanied by the picture of a dejected Conrad seated alone in the dugout.

I too felt really bad for him. We ex-players and Player-Dads, and or Coaches understand thats baseball. If you play long enough you will experience being both the hero and the goat!

Here's a "Career Minor Leaguer" that at age 30 finally found himself in the "Show" as a utility guy. He had some big moments, two late-inning Grand Slams as I recall, to win ball games. Exciting stuff for him and his family I'm sure, then this..
I hope they weren't at Turner Field watching last night and heard the fans boo him! This will pass but not sure he will get another chance tonight. Too many costly errors in critical games of late. Bobby has stuck with him with the move to second seen as his chance for redemption. Diory Hernandez may be playing 2b tonight?
My husband is from Milwaukee and has been a Braves fan for years. So we sort of followed suit.I love the Braves.I love Bobby Cox.Conrad has struggled ove rthe last several games at 2nd, and even at third. It is a shame Chipper and prado are hurt.I personally would not put Conrad in the game tonight. Its been several games he has struggled. They need to put Glaus at third and the other guy at 2nd.I too feel bad for Conrad, but he has consistently made errors in last several games. The Giants had 1 earnned run last night.Other two due to Conrads errors.I do feel for him, but this is it, lose this and you go home.
The first thing people need to remember is, the Braves wouldn't even be in the playoffs if it weren't for Brooks Conrad. How many games did he win with big time pinch hits? Lose even one of those games and you could've forgotten the playoffs.

The second thing people need to realize is that the starting 8 for Atlanta mustered 2 singles for all their AB's last night. I don't care how you pitch or how you defend, that ain't gonna win you many games.

Let's put the blame where it belongs. Go out there and put just 4 runs on the board and you win. A team that thinks it's a contender ought to be able to produce some offense. And if it can't, blaming Brooks Conrad is a bogus excuse.
Brooks Conrad isn't in the Big leagues because of his defensive ability. He is there because of his bat.

I think nearly everyone who has played the game long enough understands how the mind can get in the way. It’s amazing how often these mental funks happen to second basemen. Sax, Knoblauch, Conrad.

Conrad deserves a lot of respect for the stand up and professional way he dealt with all those questions from reporters who obviously have never been in anything close to those situations.

Bobby Cox is a great manager, not sure what he will do. He would have to think about Conrad just pinch hitting, though. Unfortunately, the injuries have forced some very tough decisions.

The Giants pitching is yet another thing to think about. Bumgarner tonight and (oh geez) Lincecum waiting in the wings.

Bet the Phillies would like to see the 5th game in this series. If it's the Giants, could mean Lincecum pitches once against them.
Ireally felt for Conrad when I saw how distraught he was. Having said that, this is the highest level of professional baseball and he has made four errors in the series and made 6 in the last 7 regular season games. As PGStaff stated, he is in the games instead of the other guy because of his bat. Unfortunately that level of defensive play will kill a team especially at a middle infield position. Maybe he will come off the bench with a big pinch hit which is really the role he is better suited for. The problem is, the other guy is hitting .138. But if that guy isn't on the team for defensive purposes, what is he even on the roster for? So it might have made sense to put that guy in in the 9th for defensive purposes.

Three Bagger,

Was kind of hoping no one mentioned that. Very good point!

Only thing is, that batting average is based on 9 ABs. He has hit very well in AA and AAA. Hitting well over .300 this year in AAA.

On another note, he made only 4 errors in 30 AAA games this year, 3 of them at SS.

The loss Of Martin Prado has been a real killer for the Braves especially since he had a great season and would have been more of a veteran presence with Chipper, the team leader also out.

Prado is a stud. And Chipper a veteran.I think Bobby made the rt decision. Not that I am an expert.I just think the errors have got in Conrads head, and granted he helped them get to the playoffs. He is there for his bat.But this is big business, a d its all on the line.I am sure Conrad understands this.
If you dont feel bad for Conrad you dont have a heart. Anyone that has been around the game for any length of time has seen someone go through a tough situation like this. And for it to happen on a stage like this just makes me sick for him. I hope he gets a chance to redeem himself and makes the most of it.

I think Cox did the guy a favor by sitting him out tonight. Coach I hope he does exactly what you hope he does.
