Wondering if anyone on message board had any experience with the showcase preceding the Buckeye Elite Tournament in Columbus in July? Is it too early for a 15/16 year old to participate in a showcase?

My son will be playing in the tourney, I heard the other day the cost is something like $250 to do the showcase, if you are accepted via a referral. I have heard the cost is extreme but that is just heresay as I have never been to a showcase period.
