Hello everyone, this is my first post here on this site, and it comes in the form of a question. I'm about to finish up college real soon, and I really would like to stay involved in the game of baseball despite most likely not being able to advance to a higher level after college, and I've come to terms about that. I was wondering what anyone knew about getting jobs in a Major League organization regarding jobs such as bullpen catcher, BP thrower, etc.? I was a pitcher myself in college, however, I'm really not afraid to gear up and catch other pitchers, as I've done so many times, so I would be comfortable catching pro pitchers. Though I never was actually a true catcher, I feel that I know a lot about pitching enough to be able to help out other pitchers if needed. I have caught a few pitchers for bullpen sessions that throw north of 90, including pitchers who are currently playing in affiliated MLB organizations. Anyways, I'm rambling a little bit. I live in Arizona and obviously with spring training coming up soon, would anyone know of or how to contact people in MLB organizations to inquire about those types of jobs? And I DO UNDERSTAND that the majority of the people who hold these positions were ex-professionals themselves, and ex professional players are preferred, but I HAVE seen a few cases where that was not the case (bullpen catcher for the Colorado Springs SkySox never even played high school ball, just an example). I have a huge passion for the game of baseball, and would like to stay involved in it as much as I can. I know to some of you this may be a ridiculous question, but I just wanted to give it a shot. I am willing to work for minor league teams and affiliates to work my way up through an organization as well, just like any player would.

So I guess my final question is, this is a nice thought, but how can I process it? As in, who can I contact and inquire about these jobs? Or is this just an absolute ridiculous question? And don't get me wrong, I am working towards a degree in finance, and I am a good student and I have had internship experience in that field. I definitely have a back up plan if baseball does not work out for me, but for now I was just wondering if this at all could be a possibility for me and if so, how can I initially set up contacts to possibly make it work? If anybody knows, or has suggestions, please let me know! Anyone's help/insights would be appreciated greatly! I have considered coaching, working in the business side of baseball, and other forms to stay involved in the game as well. But by far, bullpen catcher would be the most attractive non-playing baseball job I would like to pursue.

Thanks!

I have absolutely no information to help you whatsoever but I just wanted to say good luck and you should go for it.  You're at an age where you can attempt to do these things before you have to settle into a safe and comfortable career.  If you weren't a good student with a good fall back I would be more hesitant to offer my encouragement.  But taking you at face value that you do have a backup / realistic plan I say go for it.
