Buying a scoreboard

Have you tried Coca-Cola or Pepsi? They will sometimes donate them. Of course the board will have some kind of advertisement on it, but if it's free, or cheap, who cares.

Thanks to all for your input. I have a call into daktronics and hope to have the board up by opening day. How difficult is it to install these things?

I dont know about your area but here the company that sells their products at your games donates the scoreboards free of charge and maintains them. Ours or donated by Coke. You might want to call them and just see. You can add anything you want as far as (In honor of) etc. Either way I think it is great that you are willing to do something like that for the school. A couple of things to keep in mind when installing.

1- you may need a building permit (our school ran into trouble whenit didn't have one).

2- a LOCAL UTILITY COMPANY MAY PUT IN THE POLES FOR YOU.

3-Try to get a local electrician to install.

Put a inexpensive sign up stating that they donated their time.

NC Dad- I have a friend who is a certified electrician and has agreed to donate his time and labor to install the board for us if needed. Great idea to hang a sign to recognize his donation, I hadn't thought about that or the fact that I may need a building permit, so thanks for the input. Is the installation something that we should be doing ourselves or is it a better idea to let the company we purchase the board take care of that as well?

Coach May - Unfortunately, if you don't bring your own water to our games, you go without! Not a whole lot of money being thrown at sport programs here in Northern California. I will have to contact Coke or Pepsi to see if they can help us out with more bleachers, batting cages, etc. that are still in need. Thanks for the suggestion.

I would hope that folks reading this would consider giving back to the game that has brought us all so many great memories. Our family felt the need to give a fitting memorial to my Dad who coached 13 youth baseball teams and spent the last 10 years following his only Grandson from ballpark to ballpark as his biggest fan.
