Cal State Northridge

The parents I know who have kids on the team seem to be pretty happy with the program.

They seem to be proactive and have plenty of off-season opportunities to visit the campus. They offer camps and several showcases through January. Just curious, son was invited to a showcase, but since he is a 2012 grad I don't know what the interest actually would be...as well as the cost I would incure for spending three days in LA cruising Van Nuys Blvd...

CSN is very competitive in the SoCal area.
They will put a hurt on all the teams in any given year.
They play in the tough Big West which is hard to break through in that Conf.
There situated north of LA, Nice area.

If your child is really interested in attending that school then it cannot hurt. Go.

If that is not on your childs radar then dont go.

The coaches at Northridge do a great job. I have know the coaches there for some time and I think highly of them. They do good job of developing players. They are in the Big West so plan on playing some seriously good baseball.

From what I'm hearing, one of the nice guys around is getting the CSUN job in the next few days. Fresno st. asst coach Curtis is the news I'm hearing. My son was recruited by both CSUN and Fresno st, and he really liked coach Curtis. If I'm correct it is a nice move on the schools part. Which for that administration is not a common thing of the past. He will turn it around and improve the quality of recruits. Good luck coach.

CSUN Update

I heard a rumor that Rousey is headed to Fresno St. as an assistant.

Coach W, just for your info they are cruising once a month again. I've taken my 69 camaro out there a few times, it brings back good memories. Did you ever go to the street races in the mid 80's? I'f so you would remember my 67 nova with a plate that said 6t7nova.

Rousey was Batesole's pitching coach at Northridge before he went to Fresno St and Rousey took over the program.

You wonder how much influence Batesole had in getting his assistant the Northridge position.

It also could be a way for Northridge not to have to pay unemployment!

Now that all of the new coaches have been hired and in place, anyone have any additional insight into the program?

Looking at their site they hired Tim Leary last week.

I think it will take a few years to get up to speed and re-build their recruiting base and run the program as they would like, being they have such a diverse set of coaches.
