My 2016 uncommitted MIF got an unexpected call last week from an Area scout. He asked for all his info and my wife and I. He also told my son that they were interested in signing him. Where does thid go from here?

Typically, if they haven't already, they'll send you a questionnaire to fill out with a lot of background information. We had one request a fairly extensive eye exam as part of the process. Also had some that wanted to do personality type tests. They'll want to see him play more and if he does well, people from higher up in the organization will likely want to see him play as well. This is usually a cross-checker. There may be an in home visit too.
I trust when you say your 2016 is uncommitted that he has no plans to attend college?
No this came out of left field. He has 2 recruited walk on offers and an out of state JC. We had not even thought of the draft.

As 9AND7DAD mentioned, if your son hasn't already done so, the organization's questionnaire will sent to your son, or in some cases the scout may send an email with a link to get to a questionnaire that will need to be filled out and returned to them. And you may just get more interest by way of questionnaires sent to you to be filled out. And if they're realy, REALY interested, they'll schedule a home visit. It's not unusual for any of the organizations to request an eye exam or an eye test administered by a scout. If you son is interested in being drafted, just comply with the scout's requests.
Sounds like this June just might be an exciting time for your son. Good luck!
And to add to the aforementioned: get his schedule to the scout, as well as the HS coach's contact info. Keep him abreast of any changes to the schedule.
NOTE: the MLB Scouting Bureau is being repositioned as a different function within MLB, and upon which cannot be relied for information distribution.
Thank you for the info. Could this spark more interest from colleges also?

Perhaps . . . depending on GPA and/or SAT and ACT scores.
