called out on a bunt

A kid on our team was called out for bunting a pitch with one foot in front of the batters' box. Is that the correct call as long as he didn't cross in front of the plate or on the plate and had one foot in the box?

absolutely the right call...

NFHS Rule 7-3-2 The batter is out and the ball is dead if the batter hits fair or foul while touching the plate or with one foot on the ground completely outside the lines of the batters box.....
