I attended the Best of Bama showcase this past Sunday where I actually did pretty well to be playing against what I viewed as the best of bama, literally. These kids were good, some good enough to go to D1s and about 20 out of 60 were juniors. Which I figure leaves me with the oppurtunity to play a JUCO. Now my question is, how long until the phonce calls and letters start coming in? 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks?

Instead of waiting for the recruiters to call you, you might consider doing this: (1) contact the showcase organizer to find out which college programs attended, (2) from the showcase organizer's list of attendees, select the ones who genuinely interest you, (3) drop them a short note, telling them of your interest in their program and reminding them that you attended the showcase, (4) enclose a one-page fact sheet similar to the one described in the "Recruiting Tips" section of this website. Later, once your high school schedule is published, send them a copy of it, reminding them of your interest in them.

In any correspondence, if there's any quality in particular about the college team or school that attracts you to them, make sure you mention it. In other words, personalize your correspondence to them to the extent that you can.

Best of luck to you!
Thank you all for your replies. I actually do know which schools were in attendance. It was hosted by The University of Montevallo (DII).
There were 2 or 3 other DII schools there which I know of, and a few jucos. One of the jucos there is the one I desperately want to go to. Also I am planning on contacting my top 5 schools of choice that were, and hopefully meeting with the Jeff State coach. I was just wondering if I were to receive calls, how long would it usually take the JUCOs? I know I'm no blue chip player, which means DIs won't call me and maybe JUCOs will, but then again what if I'm a little better than I think I am and the JUCos wait to see if I sign with a DII? So that's why I was planning on calling tomorrow. Anyone have any suggestions on what to say and should I ask to go to a workout so he can see me or wait for him to invite me?
donjob,

Some or all of this might help you

Visits
1.) Find out if it's an official visit or not
2.) See what expenses they can cover for your trip
3.) Talk to Players while you're there to get a feel for the program, school and coaching staff. Talk to as many players as you can, don't be shy they'll talk to you and tell you their honest impression of everything
4.) See if your able to work out when you go on your visit, and what all is going to be required of you on the field

Clothing, and Etiquette on a Visit
5a.) Wear dress pants and a nice shirt, don't show up in jeans and a t-shirt
5b.) Remember you're making a first impression about yourself
5c.) The Coach wants to make sure that the players he brings in are guys who will represent the school in a professional manner
5d.) Speak properly, no slang or jargon unless you're on the field
5e.) Watch the profanity, keep it at a minimum if any at all

Some Questions to ask Coaches (either on the phone or during a visit)
1a.) What's your Coaching Philisophy?
1b.) How much playing time would I be looking at getting?
2.) What type of role do you see me playing when I come to this school?
3.) Is there any other way I can get more Financial Aid from the school?
4.) What's the living arrangements like?
5a.) Hazing, is it allowed?
5b.) What happens if it does happen?
6a.) What's the teams policies in regards to drinking and drugs?
6b.) How often is there Drug testing?
7a.) How do you get to away games?
7b.) How are you supposed to get to home games and practises (if diamond is not on campus?)
8a.) What's the policy to missing school?
8b.) What's the policiy to missing school due to Baseball?
8c.) What's the teams policy on the different holidays ie our Thanksgiving vs. theirs?
8d.) How does the program handle class schedules ie do all players need to be done school at a certain time during the corse of a week and what happens if a class can't be scheduled prior to the time that the Coach has requested?
The campus is actually only 30 miles away and I do have two buddies I played high school ball with that just finished their last season there. So I know it's a good program and a great coach.
I just called and left him a message that went like this:
Hey coach Russo this is Ryan Kabcenel, I was calling to say I have a strong interest in your program, and I attended the Best of Bama showcase. I was wondering if maybe we could schedule a meeting, and if you could call me back at ***-****, thank you"

Does that sound ok? Did I leave anything out?
Don,

Also keep in mind that JUCO's do not operate under the same rules as NCAA schools. There is not a "dead period" where they are unable to contact or evaluate a player. Juco's are also allowed to have an individual arrange a private work out with the coaches.

You phone call sounded fine. Continue to be proactive in going after what you want!
