Can anyone make a throw?

I have watched a lot of MLB this season. I am completely amazed at how often throws from the outfield miss their target!!

Checking out "baseball tonight", there are almost no throws from the outfield shown in the web gems... and when you see one, it is amazing, but it seems like they are far and few between...

I was at the Cubs and Cards game today...someone threw Pujol's homerun ball back onto the field from Waveland Ave. ...does that count?

that thought had me going too!!!
seems that the transfer time and velocity req. to get the avg. runner out make it darn near impossible to set and throw. kinda like asking a catcher to use the wind up to throw down to 2nd on a steal.

Amen! Many of todays outfielders are converted infielders who can run, but have never really been taught to play outfield.IMO

Rick Ankiel actually made a great throw from left field to third base today (I know it's not that far but it was right on the money) and had a great throw from right field to third last week in the milwaukee game. He's still puttin the golden arm to use, except hitting the target this time around.

That was indeed a beautiful, perfectly placed, throw from the left field wall to third base yesterday by Rick.

There was a whole article in our local newspaper today about that throw. I realize that anything Ankiel does these days is newsworthy -- and I'm more than happy to read the articles! -- but the fact that such a big deal was made about that throw speaks to the rarity of it happening in MLB.
