NECBL is very competitive and Keene has traditionally been pretty good.  However, I don't think they were as good last year as they have been in the past.  Son has a couple of friends who have played in Keene, including last year.  Older ballpark, but nice enough.  Keene is a very small city, has a college campus and everything available he will need.  The town has a reputation of doing a good job supporting the team.  It's a good summer assignment, congratulations to your son.  If you have other questions, I can try to answer them.

He can't go wrong playing in Keene. It's my favorite non coastal town in New England. Very safe although a 19 or 20 year old might find it  a little boring. As mentioned above it's an older stadium but has a great atmosphere. For an area that's not big on baseball they get a very good crowd. He might have 4 away games within an hour and a half bus ride, the rest will probable be 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 hours. Good luck!
