Well first off when I pitch in my drive way or what ever I throw usually hard, and pretty accurate. But come game time I throw considerbley slower, and have no accuracy. I just dont understand. I work very hard at pitching but have always had accuracy problems. Besides that I have good mechanics, and know basicley what Im doing at all times.

So do any of you guys know what the problem may be?

Im also thinking of seeing a pitching instructer to help me out.

Thanks alot!

Sounds like you are aiming the ball when you try to pitch in a game.

You need to...

- Ignore the batter.
- Focus on the glove.
- Let it rip.

You're welcome.

Other things to do...

1. When throwing bullpens or warming up, have a batter (without a bat in his hands) stand in the box so that you can get used to him and practice ignoring him. Being able to throw strikes when it's just you and the catcher doesn't mean much.

2. When you are playing catch with just anybody or with a catcher, have them move the glove around from throw to throw and practice hitting the glove. I call this came "Don't make me move the glove" and use it to help improve my guys' control and command.
The other side of this is that you're training in your driveway and then you try to transfer that motion to a completely different environment, like on a mound. It's now new to your body/mind. Get plenty of practice in with as close to the game environment as possible. There are significant differences with respect to the timing of when your front foot hits the ground and at what height, changing many things your mind/body hasn't ingrained yet.

I agree with this.

If you are pitching from a mound, then much of your practice has to be from a mound.
