Tonight the 49ers and Falcons will play the last sporting event at The Stick. The NY Giants moved to SF and Candlestick at the urging of the Dodgers who needed a nearby rival in "the land of gold." Giants ownership was invited to visit Candlestick Point during the one part of the year the fog doesn't roll in.

My biggest memory of Candlestick was watching kids scramble after homers behind the left field fence on TV. I went to my first game there in May dressed in layers. I wore sweats over shorts and a tee. I brought my ski jacket** just in case. Over the course of the game I was attired in every one of these layers.

Candlestick is the ultimate "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes." Its probably the only park where a person would rather attend a football game in December than a baseball game in July. I went to several Rams games in SF.

Any other memories? I know some posters live in NoCal.

My son's first MLB game was at Candlestick ! Unfortunately, he does not remember it since he was only 11 months old at the time.Jacob Cruz left tickets for us at the gate. He had recently been called up from the Phoenix Firebirds He was a customer of my wife when we still lived in Tempe, and a fellow Sun Devil We were stopping over in San Francisco to visit my Mom before continuing on to Manila.

On this particular Saturday afternoon in August it was very warm.A beautiful sunny day as I recall.

My first MLB game was at Candlestick, a year after the earthquake and a year after we were married.  We were visiting my aunt 30 miles south of the city and decided to go to a game one evening.  On the way out the door, she suggested we may want to take a sweater.  ooookay...it was Labor Day weekend....thought she was just being motherly...but we took our sweaters.  Later in the Candlestick parking lot, as we watched folks carry in blankets, coats, hats, gloves, etc., I realized we were in trouble. Thankfully, the guy next to me let me use his blanket!   What I remember of that game:  looking for remnant cracks from the earthquake.

As a Philadelphia trans plant to CA via LA to northern CA.Candlestick was always just another park except, they played both baseball & football in the same park. My first baseball game was the Giants vs the Dodgers. I realized that day that is was more than just another baseball game. My wife, a life long Dodger fan, wore her home white dodger jersey. Me, I picked up a Giants tee shirt just to show some local love and we took our seats. The guy seated next to me said, do you know that girl next to you in the dodger jersey? I said yes, that's my wife. He said, did you know she was a dodger fan before you married her

Writing from Adelaide Australia on Christmas Day. Our three teams playing for the 18th year, the Goodwill Series.

I have Many memories; pitching BP for the Giants; visiting with Willie, watching my friends with the Dodgers and Giants playing in a extra special competition between North and Southern California which is typical of the North vs South philosophy of the California residents.
