I have never been to Spring Training anywhere but next year will be the first. I've been promising the 14 year old son we'd go so it looks like this year is the best opportunity.

I'm looking for travel recommendations. We'd also like to go over to Orlando for Sea World and Universal Studios.

Not looking to go on the cheap when it comes to a place to stay but don't want anything over the top either. Figuring 3 days in Jupiter and 3 days, 2 nights in Orlando. I haven't been to Orlando in 28 years so as you can imagine, I have no clue how to go about this as to where to stay, fly in to what airport, etc? Any help from recent visitors would be greatly appreciated!

There are all sorts of package deals available to Disney World, so you might want to look into those for your best rates. The Braves' spring training complex is at Disney's Wide World of Sports, so if you're at Disney World, you're there already. Orlando is a very busy airport so there are lots of flight options no matter where you're coming from. Also it's pretty much right in the middle of the state, so you can use it as a base of operations if you're thinking of checking out spring training games on both coasts.

The Cardinals share the Jupiter, FL Roger Dean Stadium complex with the Marlins, so you may get to see two teams while there. If you pull up Perfect Game's info on showcases they've done there, you can get links to many area hotels. Air travel is through Palm Beach International Airport and is pretty convenient.

Another option is going in and out of Ft. Myers and driving across the state from there, to Orlando and on to Jupiter, maybe then north up I-95 to Vero Beach, etc. Ft. Myers is the spring training home for both the Red Sox and Twins. Again, PG has held both its National Underclass and WWBA 17u events there for some time, so you may be able to get basic hotel info off a link on their site. The Ft. Myers airport is one of the few serviced by SkyBus, too, so if you're near a SkyBus hub like Columbus, Ohio, you can really get their on the cheap these days.
strike 3,
As Midlo has suggested, you can fly right into West Palm Beach Airport and the Cards/Marlins ST facility is 10-15 minutes up the road. You can get in to see 4 different teams play in one stadium in a few days time if you time it right. The complex is very close to the beach, which I suggest that time of year, however it is season here so accomodations are at a premium. The Marriot has a great hotel close by, with a great outdoor complex including great food, movie theater, shops and the beach close by. I might suggest to you checking out Juno beach, or Jenson beach or Stuart both north of Jupiter. Stay away from Palm beach, too expensive.
For a 14 year old boy, the Kennedy Space Center is a must, one of my son's favorites when he was younger.
From Jupiter you can rent a car and drive to Orlando, which is about 3 hours. If you just want to catch baseball and not go to Orlando, very close by are the Nationals and the Mets training facilities.

If you look directly up at the top banner on this page, you can make travel arrangements through hotwire and support the HSBBW. Big Grin You might be able to fly into one place and leave from another (Orlando).

If you have any questions regarding Jupiter just give me a shout.
